"Anthony found me when I was with my family a while ago..." "What year?" I interrupted. "I was born in 1774 and changed in 1791. Now, may I continue?" I nodded and silently did the math. 17. He died at 17, of course he did... "When I was first changed, I was furious because I wanted to grow up and protect my family. My father left for the revolutionary war and died. I was the only child of the family. My mother had to take care of me without my father but with the help of my aunt. When I was older, I helped my mother around the house because I was the man of the house," he paused and I waited patiently for him to finish. "His mother disappeared when he went back to look for her," Anthony explained Lucas' distressed expression.

His eyes were distant. He wasn't seeing the back wall, he was seeing his past. Slowly, I sat next to him and took his hand in mine. He looked up and leaned closer to me. "I'll continue the story later," he abruptly spoke and dashed towards the hallway and disappeared. I looked at Anthony apologetically and headed towards my room for the night.

As I getting ready for bed, I wondered how Lucas was doing. Was he still upset? I'm feeling homesick right now. I checked my phone and I had so many missed calls. I answered my mother first. I understood how he felt now; to miss his mother.

When was phone was the dialing, I contemplated what to say to her. "Hello? Chelsea? Is this Chelsea? Where is she? What have you done to my daughter? Oh, my poor Chelsea..." My mother's worried voice rushed in a stream of questions. "Mom, I'm right here and I'm alright," I interrupted her. "Oh my goodness! Chelsea! Where have you been? Carter's here and is worried sick. He said you couldn't come home?" My heart fluttered knowing that Carter wasn't injured as badly as I thought he was.

Without warning, my door burst open and Lucas flew toward me and lightly lowered my phone. I let out a small gasp when he brought his soft hands up to gently cradle my face. "You can't tell her what you are. Not if you want them to survive. Any human that knows this will be in danger. Be careful what you say to them," he whispered quietly in my ear so my mother wouldn't hear his words. Instead, she heard my gasp.

"Chelsea? Chelsea? Are you alright, honey? Did somebody hurt you? What's happening? Keep your hands off my daughter," my mother screamed into her phone. Lucas chuckled and removed his hands from my face. I whimpered and leaned towards him. His hands were so comforting, so soft... "Protective, isn't she?" He asked me, still smiling at me. "She's just worried about me," I replied. "That's right I am," she seconded.

"Should I tease her?" I gasped at the voice in my head. It sounded just like Lucas' voice. "Am I going crazy? What's wrong with me?" I screamed out loud. "Calm down, Chelsea. Calm down. It worked!" He was enthusiastic. I stared at him in confusion. "You read my mind," he whispered to me. "Chelsea! Where are you? Tell me right now! I am coming to get you," my mother's voice pierced through my confused thoughts.
