Chapter 8: Butterflies

The cafeteria is loud as always, and even though the practice fight was a week ago already, it is still a hot topic around the school. Why would it not be? The greatest fighter defeated by a newcomer? Although it was supposed to be a tie, the win did, in the end, actually go to Grey.

Jasper, being a fanatic of these things, still has quite a lot of excitement inside of him as well.

"Okay guys, but how about when she blocked one of Jessica's blow and got knocked back slightly?"

He smiles, and looks next to him at Caspian.

At first glance, Caspian seems like a carefree person, and he is reserved, but if you truly get to know him you will see that there is more to him then what he shows. The two boys have a long history of friendship. It is thanks to Caspian and his family that Jasper is even alive. 

Being around the hothead was rubbing off on him, but Caspian has to admit that he is also suprised with the fight. Even though Grey is human, she can hold her own against Jessica. In a practice fight at least. When Jessica fights seriously, there is bound to be disaster. "That did look badass, " Caspian adds to Jasper's own amusement.

On the other hand, Saskia is not amused at all. Frankly, she is dead tired of hearing about the damn fight.

The guys laugh, and then Saskia shush them, "Boys, quiet down, they are coming, and you know how Jessica is about losing fights."

Vesper whispers in a slightly annoyed voice, "She hasn't even shown any signs of annoyance or anger."

Saskia eyes the girl slightly as Jessica and Grey approach the table.

"What were you guys laughing about" Jessica asked.

"Oh y'know, just laughing about how Grey kicked your ass," Caspian states with a cocky grin.

A roar of laughter erupts from the table of teens, and Jessica huffs. Grey only won by one point.

Jasper then looks over at Grey as she sits down to eat her food, "By the way, Grey."

Knowing the boy's intention, Caspian rolls his eyes. Jasper is always hitting on girls, although he never goes anywhere serious with any of them. Caspian asked him once, why? Jasper only told him that he had his heart pure, and waiting for the right one.

Grey looks up at Jasper in curiosity, wondering what he may want, "What?"

Grinning like a fool, he answers, "You looked beautiful fighting."

Blood quickly runs to Grey's cheeks, tinting them red, "Thank you." It was an unexpected compliment, and she takes it as just that, a simple compliment from a friend.

Jessica glares at Jasper, "Hey, she's mine." Although she is wondering why he had not hit on her sooner. 

He sticks his tongue out at Jessica, who in turn raises an eyebrow in question.

"Do you want me to kick your ass?"

Before Jasper can respond with an idiotic comment, Gray steps in. "Actually, before you continue, I want to clear something out."

With a toothy smile, Jessica turns towards the girl that has captured her heart-wait... What? No... It couldn't be, could it? I am not falling in love again, she thinks to herself, but it is taking a lot to actually believe it. Grey's soothing voice brings her back to reality.

"I am not yours."

Soft laughter comes from Saskia.

Jessica gets closer to Grey, "You will be."
