Long black lashes part way revealing dark dilated eyes. Blinking a few times, Grey finally starts to take in her surroundings. There is a pounding in her head, but whatever warm thing is next to her soothes her pain. A slight tilt of her head lets her see that Jessica is cuddled up beside her. Her serene face is beautiful, and her slightly parted lips makes Grey bite the inside of her cheek.
A cough, which is clearly to gain her attention, is heard not too far away from her left. The white light of the medical room makes her squint in irritation.
"You're awake," comes the calm yet cold voice of none other then Saskia.
The girl has her long white hair cascading over her shoulders. She must have cut it, Grey thinks to herself, but she has always seen Saskia with her hair pinned up neatly. This is the first time she sees her like this. She looks vulnerable, as if all of her walls were down. Maybe, if Grey stared long enough, she would be able to see Saskia's story through the girl's crystal blue eyes which were so different from Jessica's mix of gray and baby blue. While Jessica's eyes would resemblea faded lapis lazuli, Saskia's seemed to resemble a diamond shining with blue. It is perhaps because of the sharpness and hardness Saskia seems to always radiate around her.
"As much as it boosts my ego that you're staring at me as if you have never seen such beauty-"
"Don't kid yourself." Grey scoffs
"You're awake," Saskia finishes, with a roll of her eyes.
"Your eyes are blue."
Saskia looks at Grey with confusion as clear as her eyes. Jessica's eyes always seemed so cloudy. The storm of them still fresh in Grey's memory.
Shrugging slightly as to not wake the true beauty which is next to her, Grey clarifies, "I thought we were stating the obvious."
Quirking a perfect eyebrow, Saskia has to suppress the smirk that is desperately fighting for its rightful place at her lips, "Someone woke up from sass land."
"Speaking of waking up," Grey starts to say. "For how long have I been asleep?" To her it is as if everything happened yesterday. Although, there is a nagging feeling at the back of her mind that seems to imply otherwise.
"The excursion was at the start of October, no?" Saskia says, carefully. As if to not disturb whatever peace Grey is currently in. With a nod of her head, Grey encourages Saskia to continue.
For a moment Saskia seems to not want to tell, but in the end Grey would have to know. "Well, this Friday we will be celebrating Halloween."
Grey takes in a sharp intake of breath. Almost a whole month. Fulgur was not kidding. This could have been much worse, she is grateful that she was not asleep for longer.
"Well, the doctor would love to know that you are finally awake," Saskia says. She stands up, and walks to the door. Grey follows her with her sight, and she notices Carmilla for the first time; calmly sleeping in a chair.
Before Saskia leaves, she looks over her shoulder to Grey. "It is truly amazing that you have woken up." Her grip on the door's handle seems to tighten. "A lot of people started to give up on you." At Grey's change of look towards her she quickly continues, "I was not one of them. Nor the guys and much less Jessica." She leaves with that.
The creak of the old wooden door stirs Carmilla awake. She smiles at her student. She is about to say something, but Grey holds up her hand in the gesture of silence.
"I don't want to wake her," she whispers. Carmilla nods in understanding, and whispers as well.
"You have been in a coma for-"
