The odds are not in her favor. No matter what plan she creates, what strategy she thinks of, they all end up with Jessica's throat being slit. The very thought of such a vile thing makes her want to gag. It sends a surge of anger through her that makes her body shake with uncontrollable rage.

In between the moments of desperate thoughts, the girl barely registers Jessica's glowing orange eyes. She jumps backwards with grace right before an inferno of bright, scorching fire envelops the wolf and strange foe.

The searing heat of the act pushes Grey back a few more steps. She has to cover her face with her arms to keep the sudden flash from blinding her. The blistering blaze dwindles after its sudden and explosive burst. Enough that Grey can see the two figures who were, just two seconds ago, being swallowed by the swirling fire.

Remarkably, the man is completely unscathed. There is not a single scorch mark on his skin that is as pale as the surface of the full moon. Even the cloak he is wearing has been left completely undamaged.

The clothes on Jessica have seen better days. They are black, burned from the fire. A few holes and tears are here and there. The now red-hot sword is not yet touching her neck that glistens from its heat.

"Choose Grey."

A choice that can change the course of her life at the academy forever. Jessica is in harms way, she has to-

Before Grey can continue weighing the odds, the man presses the burning sword to Jessica's neck. She screams in agony as the burning iron digs into her flesh. Having the ability to control fire meant that she has never been burnt this badly before. It is a completely new feeling of pain.

"I'll destroy her vocal cords," he says in such a calm voice that it is hard to believe that he has the life of a person in his very hands.

All of these days, what either of them have none is pain. Pain and hardships. Is there a way to just forget it all?

Grey snarls at the man. The older girl screams louder when he presses his sword harder on her throat.

"STOP!"

The sword is removed from the now burned skin. Jessica bites her lip as tears roll down her cheeks. The pain is unbearable.

"What is your decision child?"

"I... I will take it off." Grey closes her eyes. "But, you have to tell me what the hell is going on first!"

The sword is thrown into the ground, making it stand. He sighs. "Do not even think of trying anything, either of you."

Staring at Jessica will not erase what she did earlier. He admits that her fire is no ordinary one, and had he not been in the state he is now, she could have dealt some serious damage that would take a while to heal. Like a rag doll, Jessica is thrown to the ground. She gasps for air. Her hand is at her throat, as if it could help with the pain.

Werewolves regenerate a lot faster then humans, but still slower then Vampires. The pain is still there, but in at least ten minutes she will be able to talk and move around normally without it hurting or hindering her.

Blood drops down from Grey's balled fists. She reopened the wounds from earlier when she had the flashback. Deep down she is afraid, terrified even, because for some odd reason she knows that he is capable of taking her love's life without flinching. It infuriates her to no end. The very notion of killing without thinking, without emotion, as if the person were nothing is so repulsing to her. So much so that she feels inclined to end the man; no matter how familiar he feels. She will at least be killing with emotion, not so cold hearted like him.
