At the Academy

Mr. Arminius cut the excursion short when the three students disappeared. News flew around quickly. It even got to the third and fourth years that study in a different building on the other side of the campus.

"I'm worried Saskia," Caspian paces. Worried is the last word that can explain the storm of emotions that are whirling inside him. He has been here since early in the morning. Apparently building some kind of drone to help find their friends.

Saskia continues to read her book. She is worried as well, but keeps it in. One of them has to be the voice of reason here. With Caspian building a drone and Vesper stuck in her own world with the piano, it seems that weight has fallen on Saskia's shoulders.

"Don't be," she starts. She knows Caspian is going to end up building something to find their friends. He's good with mechanical things, and anything that has to do with electronics.

"But Jasper, Saskia! He hasn't been alone in those woods since-"

She stops him there. She knows it's painful for both him and his brother to talk about that. "Say no more Cas. He's not alone, he's with both Jessica and Grey."

He scoffs. "Yeah, I would just be ecstatic if I were lost in Summer Creek's forest with a narcissistic royal who's a werewolf, and with an emotionally unstable human."

Saskia lowers her book, then closes it. "Emotionally unstable?", she asks him. Jessica has only told her about Grey's nights.

"Yeah, it's obvious. She zones out all the time, and for goodness sake she almost always has the saddest expression a human can make."

"Except when she's with Jessica," she chuckles. Those two are so obvious. She doesn't know how they haven't hooked up yet.

"But Caspian. You can't just say someone is emotionally unstable before witnessing something that can definitely say so," she says, sternly.

The boy sighs, "You're right." He stops pacing to sit down, and continue his drone. "I will be finishing the prototype tonight."

Saskia stands up. He's always working so hard for others. "You deserve some rest Caspian. They'll be fine, the three of them are strong." She squeezes his shoulder before leaving the dorm.

His friend has a point, but he can't stop now. He just needs to properly assemble the drone, and he's done. A whole month of allowance went into this, he thinks to himself with slight disappointment. I just hope it's worth it.

Midday. Deep inside Summer Creek's forest.

An unbearable pain flies through Jasper's body. He opens his eyes. Memories of what happened yesterday come in, making him grunt-maybe even punch a tree. Fate is truly against them. He sits up only to draw a sharp breath from the sudden pain that shoots up from his side. Vaguely, he remembers Jessica burning the wound closed. Smart, but hurts like hell. At least he's alive which he is grateful for. A look around the forest around him sends shivers through his body. This is the forest where he saw his parents die. Murdered.

"Are you okay?", Jessica sits up. Her body is heavy, as if she had cement going through her veins instead of blood. She can barely even open her eyes.

Trying to suppress his rising emotions, he can only nod. "Yeah, don't worry about me." Changing the subject, he asks about the day before.

"A lot of shit happened," Jessica responds.

"Like?", Jasper quirks an eyebrow towards his friend.
