(AN: not strictly Young Justice, but I didn't feel like making a whole new book for this so here)
"Thanks for letting me come over," Dick said, and he meant it. "Babs is at the manor with Kara and you know how they can get."
"No problem, man!" Wally replied. He was mainly just excited that Dick and he could play Xbox. Wally was too broke to buy his own, so Dick always brought his over to the Allen's. (Like with Barbara being at the Manor, Wally and Dick were staying at Barry's house so Wally didn't have to explain to his parents about how he knew a billionaire's son. Sure they knew about him being Kid Flash, but they didn't know Dick was Robin and it had to stay that way.)
"What do you want to do?" Wally asked once they'd made it up to his room. He figured he might as well be polite before he forced Dick to break out the video games.
"Oh crap!" Dick said as he flung his hands in the air, "I forgot the Xbox!"
Wally didn't think he could be more disappointed. "Aw, man, really?"
"Yeah..." Dick hung his head and flopped down next to Wally on the bed. It really had been an accident that he forgot the games.
"Well now what do we do?" Wally lamented.
Suddenly, Dick's eyes shot open and he sat up. Wally didn't like the look he was getting. "I--"
"Please don't say you have a plan."
"I have a plan." Wally groaned. "No, hear me out! We could zeta back to my house and grab the box, orrrr," he wiggled his eyebrows, "we could zeta back to my house and spy on Babs."
Wally didn't believe his ears. "Are you crazy? She trains with...with you, and Kara's a freaking Kryptonian! How are we supposed to spy on her when she's got super hearing?!?"
"I offered to teach you how to be a ninja like me," Dick said as he unpacked his Robin costume.
"I didn't think you were serious! You were like nine!"
"Nine and three quarters."
"You keep track?!?"
As they argued, both put on their super suits. They both knew that no matter how much Wally complained, they were spying on the girls. When Dick had asked, he knew it hadn't really been a question.
Soon, Wally was running top speed to the zeta tube in between the police department and Barry's house. (Two locations Barry was most likely to be at when a world crisis arose.) Dick was being carried, much to his chagrin, and talking to Alfred to warn him of their arrival. He made sure to ask him to not tell Barbara they were coming.
Next they knew, they were on the lawn of Wayne Manor.
"Where are they?" Wally whispered as they ran up to the front door. Dick put a finger on his lips in response. They were within Kara's hearing range now. They would have to rely on hand gestures.
"You ready for this, bro?" Dick asked.
"I'm always ready, bro." Wally grinned and Dick opened the front door a smidge. He quickly checked to see if the girls were in the front hall, then motioned Wally forward. Alfred had been waiting for them.
"Upstairs?" Dick motioned. Alfred nodded and made a b1 with his hands. Dick nodded and Wally followed him up the stairs.
It took him a second to figure out what was going on, but he followed. Apparently, Bruce has made codes for each of the rooms in the mansion. "B1" must be which room Babs and Kara were in.
Dick paused when they got to the fifth door on the left. He held a finger to his lips and Wally nodded in response. They put their ears to the door, and when they didn't hear anything suspicious Dick signalled to the nearest air vent. It was big enough to crawl through so Wally unscrewed the grate and crawled in. Dick followed, and they made their way toward the nearest opening.
And there they were.
(You'll never guess what the girls were talking about.)
Barbara had Kara in a headlock and was trying to force her to cry uncle. Kara, refusing to use her super strength, was also refusing to give up.
"Say it!" Barbara yelled. "Just say it!"
"Never!" Kara yelled back. All of a sudden, she'd flipped Barbara into her back and was pinning her arms to the ground. Then, she whispered so quietly that the boys had to lean in to hear. "Now you say it."
"I--"
"Say. It."
Barbara sighed and her head lolled back. "I ship it."
Kara stood and whooped in success. "I knew it! I knew you shipped them!"
"Who couldn't?" Barbara asked, getting a little moony-eyed. Wally and Dick shared a look but kept quiet.
"I know right? I mean they're practically inseparable," Kara agreed. She clutched a pillow and fell back onto the bed.
"And we know they're best friends," Barbara added.
Kara nodded. "Exactly! It's not like it's that big of a stretch."
A silence stretched for a bit too long, and then Barbara said something the boys would soon come to regret hearing.
"What should we do about it?"
Kara threw her pillow at her best friend in shock. "We can't interfere! That's terrible!"
Barbara gave her best friend a pointed look. Kara sighed dramatically. "But that was necessary. Ivy never would have done anything about it until I pointed out how much Harley needs her! Besides, these two lunkheads are bound to figure it out on their own eventually."
"But how long might 'eventually' take? Come on, dude, I'm getting worried about Dick." Babs countered. Wally gave Dick a confused look, but Dick's eyes just grew wider as he listened to his pseudo sister talk. "He needs to be with him. It's the only way Dick will ever be happy."
"And we already know how much they care about each other," Kara added. "Remember when Dick fractured his wrist?"
Barbara laughed. "Yeah, Wally was so worried!"
Wally slowly turned his head, drowning out the rest of what the girls said as he stared at his best friend. There was only one way this could end.
That was when the kissing boys' air duct collapsed and feel right in the middle of Barbara's room.
