This is how it really happens.

"It took me a while, but I finally realized." Wally stared directly into his best friend's eyes, knowing that if he didn't do this now he'd be wholly and utterly screwed for the rest of his life.

Dick was silent. It wasn't like Wally expected anything, but he could have at least tried to help him out. A little bit would have gone a long way. Oh well, better get this over with.

"Dick, when you're in the room I can't think about anything else. I almost always have trouble even looking at something else. I didn't notice until now but, God, Dick. You're so perfect. The way your eyes light up when you hear about the circus, or Bruce, or any kind of praise. The way you laugh in the middle of a showdown. The way your hair falls over your eyes when you're asleep and can't be bothered to fix it.

"I didn't notice until a few weeks ago, but I really should have. You probably did. It's very true, though, and it's probably been true through our whole friendship. Dick, I can't focus on anything because you're my everything. I love you, and I think I always have."

At some point during his speech, Wally had grabbed Dick's hands and refused to let go. If he couldn't have this, nothing was worth it. Dick was the most important thing in the universe. He was even more important that Wally's legs for Grodd's sake.

Wally took a deep breath. Dick hadn't said anything. He should probably have said something. Unless the amount of time Wally thought had passed hadn't actually passed, in which case--

Wally cut himself off. He had to breathe. He was slipping into relative time. Three more words was all he needed. Three more words and he could tell he'd send Dick over the edge. Well, here goes.

"So... Date me?"

Dick grinned from ear to ear and did his best to kiss Wally around it. This, this right here, was arguably the best moment in their entire lives.
