I Won't Give Up on Us

Shadow's POV

People coughed as they ran into the underground base. Some of them were down on beds being attended by nurses.

"Shadow!" Sonic ran to me. He hugged me tightly. My face was covered in dust and so were my clothes.

"I'm okay Sonic. I was just gone for some hours."

"Hours? It seemed like days!"

"Hey it's okay. At least I wasn't hurt or killed." I told him.

"Shadow I know you're lying to me. Of course you're hurt."

"How do you know this stuff?" I questioned. "Seriously, I think I dislocated my shoulder." I told him.

"Shadow! So you are hurt! Nurse-" I put a hand over his mouth.

"Sonic. Quiet... Many people here need rest and you're not allowing them. Let's talk about it in our room."

He nodded and walked with me through a curtain  that was torn from the bottom.

Narrator's POV

"Ah!"

"Just...a little...more..."

"Argh! Sonic!"

"Hold...on Shadow..."

A small boy with a gadget close to his face walked through tunnels looking for his brother. He had developed a plan to gain food and access to new gadgets and weapons.

"Oh excuse me... Sorry." He apologize as he bumped into people on his way to a certain room.

"Come on! How...long...does this take?!"

"I'm trying! Just relax..."

"Ah! I think it's in!"

"Hey Sonic check this-" The young boy stopped as he busted in the room. Sonic and Shadow stared at him and went quiet. "Is this a bad time?" Tails asked.

"Um...I don't know." Answered Sonic as he held Shadow's arm with a foot on Shadow's shoulder. He stood on one foot and stopped pulling Shadow's arm.

"I'll jut come back later-"

"No Tails wait!" A loud pop came from Shadow's shoulder.

"Argh!"

"Woo! Yeah! I did it! My first time to place a shoulder back in its socket!" Sonic cheered.

"What? You told me you had done this before-" Shadow sighed. "Never mind. Tails, what have you come to show us?" He asked.

"Well, I came up with a new and safer way to gain supplies." The young boy answered.

"That's good. So what's the game plan?" Shadow listened carefully.
