In this chapter, you are in the eighth grade. On Friday, was the day of the Spring Formal. It was a huge dance held each year at your school, and this being your eighth grade year, you were eligible for court. You, Hayley, and Mark were on court. Bob and Wade didn't want to do it because they thought it was boring. Y'all weren't into the whole dance thing, but since it was your last year in middle school,y'all wanted to try it out. The song that inspired me in this chapter is What The Hell by Avril Lavigne, because why not? XD

Your POV

Today was the day of the dance. At first, there is a presentation of the whole court. They would bring out court couples, and choose the king and queen for the Spring Formal. The students voted king and queen during morning classes, and the results were announced at the end of the presentation. All in all, I hoped I didn't get chosen to be queen. Really, I didn't want to be in court, but Hayley didn't want to do it alone, so I joined her. Mark tagged in with you two because he thought it would be fun.

The presentation was about to begin. As we paired up with our partners, I was waiting for mine. Derek, one of the cutest boys in my class, was my partner. I got nervous every time i had to link my arm with his. He was just that attractive.

For the couples in order, it went like this, from first to last:

Hayley and Hunter, Josh and Emily, Me and Derek, Mark and Allie, Tori and Drew, and, Mike and Kayla.

I was happy for Hayley because she got to be with her crush, but I was jealous of who Mark was paired up with. I mean, I kind of like Mark, but not to much for me to develop a HUGE crush. But, I did not like Allie. Even though she was one of the most popular girls in school, she acted that everything around her went her way. She would sometimes bully me to the point where I am too mad to speak to anyone, even Mark.

The presentation was starting, and all the couples were being called. We went one couple, then another, presented ourselves, and then lined up in a semi-circle. After all of the couples were done presenting, the assistant principle came up to the podium and was about to announce the king and queen.

"Well don't we have a lovely bunch of couples this year. Well, here in my hand I hold the winners of this year's Spring Formal king and queen. We are all wanting to know who the queen is, so, ladies first. The queen of the Spring Formal, is....Allie! Congrats!", the assistant principle said.

Well, we all new that was coming. She had to become the queen, but at least it wasn't me, you thought.

"Now, it is time for the king to be announced. This year, the Spring Formal king, is....Mark! Congratulations, and thank you everyone for a lovely presentation. We will crown the winners, once we get into the banquet hall and start the dance. Have a wonderful time!", the assistant principle said.

We all got off stage, and started to head to the banquet hall. Once we got there, I started to look for Bob, Wade, Mark, and Hayley. At first, I saw Hayley. We started to talk and then the boys came over.

"Hey guys! Congrats Mark on getting king!", Hayley said.

"Thanks. I didn't think I would get it.", Mark said.

"You deserve it! Your a really awesome guy.", I said and hugged him.

He hugged back and said a 'thank you' in my ear. The hug was interrupted when I heard a girl behind Mark. It was Allie.

"What are you doing, Mark? We should be dancing, and not talking.", she said. She practically dragged Mark to the dance floor and started to dance. We all got mad, but brushed it away. We all started to dance, and were having a good time. We were upset that Mark wasn't with us, but at least he was having a good time, with his crush. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, he asked her to the dance in the first place, and he was so happy she said yes. I was happy for him. I'm his best friend, and if he was happy, I am happy.

After a little bit of dancing, me and Hayley had to use the bathroom. We walked to the bathroom and were doing our business. Soon, a group of girls walked in after us, but they didn't realize we were in there with them. The leader of the group started talking and I instantly knew who it was, Allie.

"Gosh, I can't take Mark anymore. He keeps on wanting to hang out with his friends, but they are losers. Especially, (Y/n). I don't like her, she is such a cluts. But if he wants to hang out with them, he can be losers along with them.", she said. Her little group started to giggle and left the bathroom. I was boiling with anger! Not at the fact that she called me a cluts, but she called my friends losers.

I don't care if they call me anything, but if they put my friends into the conversation, I will tell them off. My friends don't deserve this. They are wonderful humans that didn't do a thing to them.

Hayley and I walked out of the stalls. She was upset to, and we knew, we had to get revenge, but we had to tell the boys first. We walked up to them, and you could tell we were mad.

"Hey guys, what's wrong with you two?", Bob asked.

"Well, we just got done hearing a lovely conversation by Allie and her little gang.", you said with sarcasm.

"Well, what happened?", Wade and Mark asked.

You and Hayley both explained the whole situation. The thing that hurt you the most was that you had to tell Mark, what his 'crush' said about him, behind his back. You can tell in his expression, that he was hurt, but didn't want to show it. You wanted to make it up to him, and you knew the perfect way...

Revenge

After explaining everything, Mark went to the bathroom to cool down. After that, you, Hayley, Wade, and Bob didn't know what to do. But you made a mental plan.

When you got a chance, you slipped away from the group to find Allie. She was by the punch bowl, perfect. You went over and pretended to get a drink. You heard her whisper to her friends, "Hey guys, look at the cluts." You had enough, so you spoke up.

You then took a sip of the drink and made a disgusted face. "Hey Allie, does the punch taste weird to you?", you asked. "No, but-", she was cut off because you pushed her head into the punch bowl, and backed up laughing.

She raised her head from the bowl, and had a shocked look. She screamed, "WHAT THE HECK?!?! YOU RUINED MY NINE HUNDRED DOLLAR DRESS AND MY HAIR!" "I heard what you said about my friends, and Mark. Nobody talks about them, and gets away with it. And I did it for Mark, because he really liked you, but I told him what you said. Nobody talks about my best friend like that." You said and then walked away, feeling proud.

Hayley, Bob, and Wade saw what you did, and laughed with you. You all gave high fives to one another, grabbed Mark, and went home. Mark decided to come to your house for a little bit and play video games with you.

Mark's POV

We arrived at (Y/n)'s house and went into her room. We had a spare change of clothes to change out of from the formal. I changed in the bathroom, and came back to her room. We started to play some Super Mario.

"So, how does it feel to be king, Mark?", she asked.

I chuckled and said, "Its fun and all, but sometimes frustrating knowing the queen doesn't feel the same as you." I was hurt that she said those things about me, but I was happy after what (Y/n) did. She stood up for me and humiliated Allie. I knew she would step up for me, since she was my best friend.

"Well, she doesn't deserve you. She just thinks that the world evolves around her.", (Y/n) scoffed.

"Well, she did deserved what you did to her.", I said. (Y/n) blushed a deep red.

"You saw what happened?", she asked.

"Yeah, but I am not mad at you. I practically laughed when it happened. But, thank you for stepping up for me."

"You're welcome."

We started to play Super Mario. We were making up jokes, laughing and smiling about what had happened in the past hours. We were having so much fun.

I'm glad we are best friends.
