"...A man who is pure of heart and says his prayers by night..."
--One Week Later--
(Reader's POV)
It was one week after you and Kanda returned from your mission in Romania, and Kanda was just getting out of the hospital wing of the Order. You couldn't help but worry for him when he was hospitalized. And more than that, you worried about the bite on Kanda's neck. After a week, it should have started to heal, but it looked worse than it did before. The old Romanian woman's warning came into your mind once again: "A man who is pure of heart and says his prayers by night may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms and the autumn moon shines bright." The warning repeated itself like a broken record in your head. 'That beast... was it a--?'
"Oi, On'na!" A voice called.
You turned to see a familiar grumpy exorcist walking towards you. Kanda's right shoulder and side of his neck were still wrapped in bandages. You looked at him. "Oh, hey Kanda." The grumpy exorcist had his signature scowl, bit you could tell that something was on his mind. Your reasoning? He was silent. You looked at him, concerned. "Kanda? Are you okay?"
Kanda's POV
It was an awkward situation. I was standing in front of (Y/n) and was trying to thank her for getting me to the hospital, but the words caught in my throat. It was frustrating.
"Kanda? Are you okay?" (Y/n) asked.
I could tell that she was concerned. After being bitten and almost crushed by that beast, I couldn't blame her for blaming herself. I grunted a little, since shrugging my shoulders made it hurt like hell. "I'm fine." I said. (Y/n) smiled at me and I felt a pain in my heart, which confused me. What was it about (Y/n) that made my chest hurt? I scoffed at her. "Tch. What are you smiling about?" I asked her. She just smiled and laughed a little. "I'm glad that you've recovered." A faint blush covered her cheeks. "I was worried about you when you were hospitalized for a week." I could feel my cheeks burn with a blush and I scoffed at her. "You know I don't die easily. There's no need to worry about me. You should worry about yourself." She looked at me with a hurt expression on her face. 'I guess I was a bit harsh. She did get me help when I needed it.' Instead of running away in tears, like I expected, she just gave me a sad smile and then patted my bandaged shoulder as gently as a feather would land in the palm of one's hand. She looked at me. "Don't exhaust yourself, Kanda," she said, gently, "The Order doesn't need to lose one of its best exorcists." She walked past me and the pain in my heart grew worse, as did my confusion.
Then I felt the wound on my neck begin to throb with a dull yet burning pain. I growled slightly as it started to spread to my head. I gripped my forehead and collapsed against the wall. '(Y/n)...' For some reason, (Y/n) was the only one I could think about. '(Y/n)... I'm...'
3rd Person POV
Kanda's body ached all over, his thoughts centering around a single person. (Y/n). With the pain erupted a sensation like fire and adrenaline. Kanda limped back to his room and locked the door. He took a few strained steps toward a small table, where there stood an hourglass, and inside the hourglass was his lotus flower. Kanda was only a few steps from the table before the pain in his body caused him to collapse. He reached his hand out to the table to try and steady himself, but he fell on the floor. His hand was still out reached. '(Y-Y/n)...' He thought as his head felt as if it was going to split open.
And then... it happened...
Kanda hadn't realized until then that it was night. The light of the full moon shone through the window and onto Kanda. The pain he felt increased tenfold, and his body began to change. His exorcist coat tore to shreds and his boots burst as his feet grew into massive paws. He gripped his head as the transformation made his hands clawed and wolf - like ears tore themselves through the top of his head. His teeth became sharp and his head grew the long and grizzly snout of a wolf. His thoughts of (Y/n) became the thoughts of a natural hunter, a beast with only the thoughts of fresh meat. His senses grew more keen, and he felt the need to hunt by the light of the full moon. His nose caught the scent of someone that the human part of Kanda's mind knew, and the wolf part of his mind wanted her. For Kanda, trapped in the form of a massive black wolf, it was time to hunt.
