Chapter 37

"Best. Ride. Ever." Kelsey spoke from the end of the barn. After I loped, we walked out our horses for a bit. I got off while Kathleen taught them another barrel lesson since they have Youth Worlds next week. I decided that I would stay back with Sonia and Lily to take care of the barn while Kelsey, Ella, Kathleen, and Nathan went up. Nathan originally wanted Sonia to come with him but she felt bad leaving Lily and I alone so she politely declined.

"I know right?" Lily called from next to her. Their horses were drenched in sweat from all the hard work. Stereo was the worst though; since Ella was taking him as an extra, they she had to work harder so he was top notch.

I finished putting away Talia's tack and grabbed the lead line with the chain. Hooking the chain over her nose, I lead her outside and over to the hose. She wasn't too good with water, but she was in desperate need of a bath, so I decided to pressure her a bit.

I saw Nathan leading his horse out to her field. When he let her loose, I waved him over. He broke into a jog and stopped before us.

"Can you pretty, pretty please hold her?" I begged, sticking out my bottom lip. He rolled his eyes and grabbed the lead, giving a little tug on it to let Talia know that he meant business. She obliged and stood still as I ran the water over her body quickly. I then picked up the Mane & Tail shampoo and scrubbed it into her body. After doing that, I washed the suds away and used the conditioner on her mane and tail. She glistened in the sun.

Right as we were finishing, she took us by surprise and shook all the water off, drenching us. "Talia!" We both laughed, shaking our heads. I took the sweat scraper and started flicking all the excess water off. While I did that, Nathan grabbed a hard brush and ran if over what I just did, making everything dry faster.

"Perfect." I smiled once we were done, kissing her head. She nuzzled mine in affection and Nathan rolled his eyes at our adorableness. He handed me back my lead and stalked over to Sonia who was talking to Ella.

"Please don't roll." I asked Talia, who just snorted in response. Silly girl.

I heard two light knocks on my bedroom door a week later. Looking up from my laptop, I saw Ella and Sonia poke their heads in.

"Ash? Can we come in?" Ella asked cautiously. I nodded and they both walked in, shutting the door along the way. I patted the bed to let them know that they didn't have to stand there.

"What's up?" I asked as Sonia bit her lip.

"You go Sonia; this is going to be awkward." Ella ushered. I cocked an eyebrow but waited for them to continue.

"Well... you see when you and Niall were dating," I sucked in a sharp breath at his name, but let her continue, "For Christmas, he gave Ella two V.I.P passes... Would it be okay if we went?" Sonia rushed out. I let it sink in, weighing my options.

After a moment I smiled and nodded, "Yeah I know we broke up, but you can go ahead. I know that you're both big fans of them... when is it?"

The both gave each other an uneasy look before replying, "Today..."

"Uhm, okay... when are you leaving?" I asked checking the clock on my computer; 12:37pm.

"Now."

"Oh..."

"Are you sure you're okay?" Sonia quickly asked. I loved that about her; she was always so caring and put others before herself, "I mean, we can stay if you want. We'll be okay!"

I shook my head, "No need for that. Go and have fun! Honestly, I'll be fine!" I forced a smile and they both breathed sighs of relief.

"Okay. Thanks so much Ashley." Ella spoke up before hugging me. I quickly hugged them both before ushering them out the door and getting ready for chores.
