I walked up my stone driveway, into my plain Abnegation house, identical to all the others in my faction. I tried to be quiet as I slipped through the door, but he saw me right away.
He glanced at the clock. "You're home early, Amber. Why?" He raises an eyebrow at me.
I failed the test. "The serum made me sick. The lady giving my test told me to come home." He stood up and walked closer to me, cornering me.
"What was your result?" He growled. We weren't supposed to share it, but I didn't even think about refusing him.
"Abnegation." And Dauntless, I added silently in my head.
He grabbed my arm harshly. "And?" I tried to look confused. I knew he knew, but I couldn't tell him. I couldn't fail.
"What do you mean and?" I asked, hoping he bought it. His grip tightened on my arm, starting to make it throb.
"Don't lie to me, Amber." He was so close to me I could smell his breath. I wanted badly to push him away, but that's what...
My mind flashed back to the last night I had seen my mother. Marcus pushed her up against a wall.
"Please!" She begged. His grip only tightened.
I watched in horror as she spit in his face, pushing him off.
She died that night.
"I asked you a question!" Marcus yelled, pinning me to a wall. "What was your result?"
"Abnegation. I promise!" I cowered against the wall.
He drops me and walks back to his work and sits down. "There are some fellow council members coming later tonight. I expect you to have eaten and be in your room by the time they get here, understood?"I nodded and picked my self up. "Yes sir," I said, before walking into the kitchen.
Sorry for the late update! School has been busy! More to come though!
