TOBIAS POV
12 years ago. I had been without my mother for 12 years now. I missed her. But she died. I knew Amber was thinking about the same thing today. She loved mom. Not that I didn't. As I walked to past the chasm, I looked down into it, watching the water below. Her Ceremony was tomorrow. I could only hope she transfers to Dauntless. Or at least gets away. I have to make sure.
"Hey, Four, you ok man?" Zeke approached from behind, scaring the living crap out of me. I jumped.
"Yeah no, I'm good. You ready for those initiates tomorrow?" He laughed. This was the first year we expected a significant amount of transfers, so Zeke was helping me train. Maybe train Amber.
"Hey, a bunch of us are going zip lining tonight. You in?" Heights. No thanks. I was scared to death if them. Four fears. First one, heights. Every time.
"Sorry. I uh... Can't. Shift in the control room." He nods, completely buying it.
"Bummer. See ya, dude." He walks off. I looked back at the chasm. I needed to get to the Ceremony tomorrow.
