Chapter 2

It takes us a total of one and a half hours just to finish building the barricade. It all works out I think because its just about the right length and width that it needs to be. I look around and I think two people out of the thirty six people not including my self thinks that I'm Eponine but again their not sure. I recognize a lot of the people here. There might even be another female here but I'm not sure. If that person is who i think she is correct. I wonder why she's here. I would've that that she'd stay home like she was probably instructed by her boyfriend.
After the first couple of shots fired there was a brief hiatus in the sound of war but then a bullet was coming toward me and my life flashed before my eyes that I didn't register what had happen. It was so quick it kind of seemed fake. Someone had jumped in front of me and took the bullet. It was a guy named Felix who I barely knew. I've only talked to him a few times. He looked so brave and he let me live! This is defiantly a weird game.
Within the next hour ten of the men were dead Felix, of course, being one of them. It's a strange thing to go from a slave at you parents' inn to an actual battlefield where men die within minuets of a war. You don't realize how different war is than you're average day thing.
All of a sudden there's a bullet in the direction of Marius. "Nooo!!! Not Marius!", I scream in my mind. This can't happen! The girl that I was thinking about earlier is balling just like I am but she steps up and takes the bullet for Marius looking strait at me. I defiantly know now that this girl is who I thought she was.
~Marius' POV ~
Wow! What just happened. There's two girls here!!??!! They did the opposite of what I told then to do and they promised me to follow my instructions. I can't believe this. Felix was such a fun spirit to be around and he died along with my brother Enjorlas. It all seems that one big crazy nightmare that I want to be done with and over. Eponine is alive thanks to Felix which I'm sooo happy that she's a live but I wish Felix was too. However Cossete is here and took the bullet for me. Nooooo!! This is crazy and mad. "Cossete!!??!! Please don't die. I want you to live!!... I...", I say
" Marius. It's okay. All of it is going to be okay. You have Eponine and the life you wanted. She loves you and you love her. I'll miss you...", Cossete said to me like it was what she'd known all along and only had minuets before she was dead.
"Yeah I know but I would have thought that you'd be here with me. Thanks for letting me live. I'll miss you too. More than you'll ever know. You know you were a great friend and for a little while girlfriend. I'll never forget you... I won't I primus you that!", I said quickly because I know time was running out. Like she'd die in a second.
"I know but it's the way it must be now. You were a great friend and boyfriend too. I know you won't and neither will I. Goodbye Marius!", she said.
Why!!! Why does this have to happen! "Goodbye Cossete...", I said and then she was dead. I can't believe that just happened! I don't like this and don't think I'll ever get over this.
Marius just falls to the ground sobbing. I feel so bad for him. Speaking of sobbing where's my brother!!!???!!! I start panicking but I see him two minuets after I think this. Another gun or cannon fired and this time Gavroche, my brother, is in front of the bullet I pull him over and this time Grantine is in front and took the shot for him. Today is defiantly a hectic one. By the end of the war me, Marius and Gavroche are the only survivors from the battlefield. We head to Marius' house and try to recover from what just happened. It doesn't happen all we basically do is cry and grieve for the people we lost and died.
~Three days After the war~
"Hey Ep. I'm going to go take a shower. Call me if you need me.", Marius says. I nod and turn in the TV while lying on the couch with Gavroche. I decide to watch Once Upon A Time since there was barley anything else on. After fifteen minuets into the episode there was a knock on the door. That's weird I think. Who would be knocking on this door after what just happened a few days ago. I go up to the door hoping that it's not my parents but I'm pretty sure it is. As soon as I open the door I recognize the man standing in front of me and thankfully it's not my one of my parents. He's Cosette's father or guardian also known as the mayor of this town. I wonder if he knows about his daughter if there's news he has to say to me about my parents or about Cossete or all the funerals and I'll have my answer soon.
Hello. I'm the mayor and the guardian of Cossete. I'm looking for Marius Pontmercy and his girlfriend named Eponine Thendilear. I was told that this house belongs to him. Is that true?", he asks me. I blush when he said the girlfriend part because I'd love for that to be true but he hasn't asked me to be his therefore it's not exactly true yet.
"Yes it's true this is his house.", I say with a nod.
"May I talk to him. If he's busy do you know where I could find his girlfriend?", He asks me.
"Marius is taking a shower right now. However I do indeed now Eponine in fact I am the Eponine you're looking for. Marius hasn't asked me to be his girlfriend yet though.", I say. "Would you like to come in and have a drink? Marius shouldn't be long now.", I say stepping back from the door.
"Thank you. I would love too. Just water with ice please." He says and I nod getting him some water.
Within minuets Marius comes into the living room and as soon as he sees the mayor he looks worried and concerned. "Hello. I'm Marius Pontmercy may I help you?", he asks.
"Marius he wanted to talk to us. I invited him in it's fine.", I told him and handed Valjean his water.
"Hi Mr. Pontmercy. As you two know my daughter died three days ago during the war to protect you Marius. She loved you but understood the fact that you wanted to be with someone else and wanted you to be happy. She left gifts she wanted me to give you personally along with letters for the two of you... Oh and I have news for you Ms. Thendilear that if you're brother's around he should hear too.", he says.
I nod and get Gavroche over to where we were. "Go ahead. We're ready.", I said when we're ready and brace myself for the worst.
He nods and starts talking. "I'm very sorry that I have to tell you and your brother this but you're mother and father died yesterday in an accident in their inn. I'm sorry for your guesses losts.", he says Very slow trying to help us process it all in. "Well I really should get going. Here's the box with the gifts and letters. It was nice nesting you three. Goodbye.", He says.
"Thanks. We're sorry for your loss. Same here. Have a good day. Bye", we all say at the same time. After we're done saying that he leaves.
~Author's Notes~
Hey so school has been almost three months. I can't believe it! I'm sorry it took so long for me to update but I couldn't figure out who to kill and I kept going back and forth. I went to Andredes today for the first time in forever. It was cool. We had friends come down from my hometown and we did go carts twice, a family coaster five times paddle boating, laser tag and a few more things. I ran into my old history teacher which was cool. This weekend has been a pretty good one. Thanks laynalou02 for being the only one to comment and DeathIsCliche for helping me out. Well I'm super tired and I sing for church services as well as play clarinet. Well that's all I have for you today. Chapter six of Dauntless Love will have an update soon. Night.
