EVEN MIRACLES TAKE A LITTLE TIME.
–WALT DISNEY'S CINDERELLA

IN HER MIND, she believed the twins were her "saviors." The twins, after finding out that was where she had been living in the months she'd been there, they immediately demanded that she had better treatment. From that moment forward, the blonde girl had officially decided that her life was changed for the better.

First, she could actually shower. She could truly and utterly feel completely clean instead of having the dirt and grime coating her pale skin. The guards had only let her leave her cell once a week for showering or bathing. Second was the food; she could now eat real genuine food instead of old mashed potatoes and stale bread they delivered to her cell three times a day. Third, her bedroom was much roomier and commodious than her tiny cell.

Fourth was her favorite change: she had an actual name. Cara, it meant 'beloved' in Italian. Although she had no recollection of hearing the language, she instantly knew what it meant. She loved the way it rolled off her tongue but she absolutely loved it when Pietro said it.

Since Wanda and Pietro saved her, her friendship with the Maximoffs had grown. Wanda was incredibly kind to her, treating her like a sister than a friend. She could give Cara clothing since they seemed to be about the same sizes, talk about girly things, and since Cara's enhanced ability was mimicry, Wanda had helped her gain control of her powers that she used with her mind.

Before all the volunteers died (except the twins, of course), Strucker had forced her to absorb their abilities since he knew they would be of no use to a corpse. She had the ability of controlling the elements, to turn into the animal of her choosing, and taking control of a person's movements and thoughts by singing, much like a siren. The others had died with the abilities still not appearing.

Cara had discovered the third ability one night after the three friends were done training for the day. It was late at night so Wanda had gone to bed and Pietro was grabbing food in case he got hungry in the middle of the night (which was almost every night).

As he walked back to his room, he could a beautifully haunting voice. Although it was muffled, he could tell it had beautiful words. The words filled his ears and entered his mind. His thoughts - that were first focused on food and sleep - were now focused on finding the source. He ran at inhuman speed through the compound but stopped when he realized that he had just passed Wanda's room. Pietro turned his head, realizing that the singing was coming from Cara's room, which sat between both the twins' rooms.

He slightly pushed the door open, realizing it wasn't even shut fully. Pietro stuck his head through the crack, seeing Cara standing in front of her bathroom mirror. Cara held a brush in her hand, slowly brushing her hair free of tangles. Standing in her room, he could officially hear the song.

"A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you're fast asleep
In dreams you will lose your heartaches
Whatever you wish for, you keep

Have faith in your dreams and someday,
Your rainbow will come smiling through
No matter how your heart is grieving,
If you keep on believing
The dream that you wish will come true."

Cara's voice stopped as she left her bathroom, running her pale fingers through her hair. She jumped, her blue eyes staring at the Sokovian boy, now realizing he was standing at the end of her bed with a bag of Doritos in his hand. "Pietro?" she asked, timidly. "Are you okay?"

"Was that you singing?" Pietro asked suddenly. "It was beautiful."

She blushed. "It's just a song from some movie Wanda forced me to watch. She keeps telling me I'll find my 'Prince Charming.'" She chuckled as she quoted the movie. "And I know I've heard it before but with my memory... "

"Nevertheless, it was still beautiful," Pietro complimented. He sat on the edge of her bed and opened the Doritos bag. "Is that your power or something? It felt strange, hearing something that beautiful like that. I kept thinking that I had to -"

"Find the source?" Cara smiled, taking a seat on the bed. She reached into the chip bag and took one out. "Baron Strucker said that my last ability was probably going to start appearing now. Guess I'm like, part siren or something. I hope you two have fun trying to teach me how to control that power. Wanda already helps me with her powers and elements while you help me with your speed and the shape-shifting thing. I wonder who'll help me with my singing."

"Don't worry, Cara," Pietro smiled, "we'll help." God, she loved when he said her name. "It takes time like always but we'll help. I promise."

Cara then noticed how close the two were; their faces were less than an inch away from each other and they could feel the other's breath. Their blue eyes staring into each other's. Pietro's eyes kept flicking back from her lips to her eyes.

Wanda had often teased the two about their feelings; it was so obvious that they liked each other that the guards even noticed. It was skinny love and she knew it.

Cara did agree with them but she couldn't. She barely knew Pietro; sure Pietro had told Cara all about his past and Cara had told him what she could remember but she couldn't. It was odd to her to kiss a boy you had known for barely a few months. Besides, what if she had someone she loved? And what if they were looking for her now? If she had returned her feelings to Pietro and ran into her old lover, who would she choose? Would she stay with Pietro - a man who had stayed by her side and helped her through what she thought were the darkest events of her life - or run into the arms of her previous lover - a man (or was it a woman?) that she had no recollection of but probably loved very much? And what would Wanda say?

What would Wanda, her best friend, say about it? She knew that Wanda loved her like the sister she never had. And although Cara knew that she supported her and Pietro together, was she just saying that behind a mask of jealousy? If Cara did have a previous lover, would Wanda encourage her to follow her heart? And what would her heart even say?

So many thoughts had filled her head. She noticed that Pietro was still leaning forward so she lowered her head and cleared her throat. "It's, um, it's getting late."

Pietro's smile fell a little. "Right, I'll see you in the morning?" He stood up, taking his Doritos bag with him.

Cara chuckled. "It's not like I have a choice," she joked as he smiled wide. "But yeah, I'll see you in the morning." And with that, the Sokovian left the room.

A/N: So I just saw Scorch Trials and it was pretty good. It was pretty off from the book but that's what directors do, THEY COMPLETELY CHANGE THE PLOT UNLESS IT'S HARRY POTTER OR HUNGER GAMES.

Anyway, I feel like this chapter was pretty long but that's okay. The bigger the better, right? Of course, the song is not mine; it's 'A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes' from both Cinderella movies. I love Cinderella so much <3 I hope you guys like this. Also, really quick, I want to thank @BrittanyLaney for my cover. I love you, Bri! Thanks for reading. Bye guys!
