Lachlan stared into the distance, at the universe and the billions of stars, with tears streaming down his face. Billions of stars, and all of them he didn't care about. Except one. All the stars looked the same, including the one he was standing on, but he could easily find the one star. It always shined brighter at him.
Vikk stared back with just as much sorrow, just as much regret, and just as many tears. If only he hadn't ran into him, if only they hadn't fallen in love, if only they hadn't broken the rules, if only the hadn't been punished. If only. They stood there, on the stars that would never align, and cried. But no matter how many tears and how much yearning, they wouldn't be together again. As a last way of goodbye, Lachlan began to sing.
"Twinkle twinkle little star. How I wonder how you are."
"Up above the world so high. Like a diamond in the sky," Vikk sung now.
"Twinkle twinkle little star," With their cracked and sorrowful voices, the two sang together. "How I wonder how you are."
Lachlan's knees gave out, and he collapsed onto the star dust. He cried as the boy he loved but could not be with drifted away and as his own star took him in the other direction. The distance separating them was huge now, and nothing would fix it.
Vikk curled up into a ball. They just weren't meant to be. What was done has been done, and there was nothing he could do. Together, the two lovers sobbed and longed for each other.
Maybe someday, they'll be reunited again. Maybe in a million years or more, but they both knew the day would come. When the time is right. When the stars align.
[The list stops for now, but give me ideas! I'd love to hear what brilliant brains think instead of mine that comes up with things at midnight. I like writing oneshots in my free time, so this book will continue! ^•ω•^]
