I'm floating above the clouds right now. It's like one moment, everything in the world just stressed me out and I couldn't get out, then the next moment I'm in a dream, a dream that's everything I ever wanted it to be.

It's a little scary how quickly the memories come back. Our first real kiss since the accident. Real, passionate, and nothing holding us back anymore.

"Can you believe they actually said I could go?" I say, squealing with excitement, watching as Connor drives through the streets of our hometown.

He smiles. "Yeah, I can, Bethers. This is your dream. That's why you should go."

"I can't go without you, Con. Come with me. We'll have so much fun. This isn't my dream, Connor, it's ours. And I want to live it with you."

He parks on the edge of a curb. It's nighttime, and I can see the stars twinkling. Clear skies, the perfect night with the perfect boy. "Beth, you know I can't afford it. With my mom in the hospital, my sister and I have to work around school hours. Even if I had the time to go, I don't have enough money to do it. But you should go. I can't let you stay because of me."

"But Con, it's New York."

I don't know what he would've said after that, because all I feel are the headlights coming towards our way and the ground shaking beneath my feet as my vision blacks out.

I wake up in a white room, with my mother staring down at me.

"How are you feeling?"

"You were with me," I say, pulling away.

He crinkles his eyebrows. "What?"

"At the accident, we were going somewhere, like a mall or something. We were talking about going to New York..."

He nods, and looks at me. "Beth? Maybe we should go inside now."

I glance over at his house, remembering where I am. I get out of the car and walk over to his front door as he pulls his keys out and unlocks it.

The first thing that registers is the smell. The smell that I somehow recognize. The smell of homemade cookies and leather furniture and my childhood. This is where I grew up.

I make my way to the stairs before he does, the overwhelming sense of familiarity telling me exactly where to go. When I find his room, I plop down on his bed, staring at the ceiling.

"I haven't been here for a while."

He chuckles. "You seem to be enjoying yourself."

I hear him put his backpack down and zip it open. "So you remembered."

I sit up. "The moment right before something hit us. I was trying to get you to come with me, and you said you couldn't..."

"Afford it."

"Why could I afford it but you couldn't?"

"Your fame took off. Your face was wanted everywhere, advertisements, campaigns, charities. You earned all your money. But I was pretty much the one that was always with you, nobody knew who I was. I was just there."

I stare at him. "Oh, Con, I didn't know--

"No," he says, smiling. "You don't get it. I was completely happy that way. It took me months to convince you that I was okay, and when you finally seemed content with it, we moved on."

"Oh." I frown.

"Stop worrying about it," he says, taking my hands in his. "Now, are we gonna do this project or not? Because we do only have two days."

I widen my eyes. "Yep, probably."

A/N: hey guys! wow, another chapter. i should really be reading something for school, we're reading the odyssey and i have like a hundred more pages i need to read by tomorrow but whatever lol. anyway, i thought it would be really cool if i could update more often, but since i have school and everything the chapters would be shorter. for example, this one. sorry this one's so short! the lengths will probably vary, just depending on how much time i have. i hope you like this one (:

xx, morgs
