Chapter 7 - Adam is More than You Thought

The look Adam gives me right now makes me think about what happened back on New Year's.

About five minutes before it hit midnight, he told me he was in love with me. I thought he was joking at first, but I realized he wasn't when the clock hit 12 and he kissed me. It was a real kiss. Passionate. Hungry. Wanting more.

And I'm not sure why, but I kissed him back.

I realized I loved him, too. And now, he's technically my boyfriend. I mean, a couple days after New Year's, he asked me to be his girlfriend. So it is kinda official. But I usually refer to him as my best friend. I don't like to tell people we're dating.

"I haven't been away from you for a whole day before," he says.

"There's still a few hours. We could do something."

"Don't you have homework?"

"Oh. Right. Sorry, Adam."

She's pushing me away.

"I wish I could spend time with you. I really do. But with school, I don't have much time. Maybe the weekends. We'll be okay, Adam."

"I was thinking about you all day."

I don't say anything. We arrive at my house and he gets off with me.

"Adam, you don't have to walk me to my door."

"I want to."

I look through my purse to find my keys and when I find them and look up, Adam puts his hands on my face and kisses me. Exactly the same way as always. Wanting more.

"Adam," I whisper. "Not here. My mom's home."

"Your mom knows me." He lets me go and smiles.

"Adaaaam," I whine, smiling back.

"Okay. I'll see you tomorrow morning, right?"

"Yeah. Don't be late."

"You should tell yourself that."

I roll my eyes and walk into my house, closing the door behind me.
