I couldn't help but feel a pinch of pain deep inside me - almost a sort of guilty feeling. Because I did something bad before, something I would never own up to until the second I saw Topaz return through the same two doors of our house.
Her icy smile froze my bones, which then moved to Drew.
"It's so nice to be home!" she said sweetly.
My parents were the next ones in the door.
"Go to your room, Topaz," my father demanded.
She blushed slightly and winked at Drew, blowing him a slight kiss. I growled lowly, only enough so Drew could hear it, which resulted in a mangled laugh that came out of his mouth.
"Hello," my mother nodded to Drew before following Topaz up the stairs.
My dad wandered over to the couch, he sat down opposite of Drew and I. His eyes were searching. I felt like I was getting... inspected?
"Uh, Dad?" I said.
"Yes?"
"Do you, uh, mind?"
He shot me a raised eyebrow look, "Mind what?"
"Forget it," I sighed, "Look, if you want to ask something, then do it, but if you're just going to give us the hairy eye, you better think of a reason why because I'm not going to stand for it."
"I think this is a conversation for a man to have with another," my dad said in an annoyed tone, "If you would," he gestured to Drew, "Follow me."
Drew stood up and sent me a small smile with a cute wave.
It was almost like he was going off to kindergarten, I thought with a slight sniff. He must have been one damn cute little kid. Wait a second, I knew him in kindergarten! They had pictures, oh I totally had a picture of him from back then. I jumped off the couch and ran to our large bookshelf, scanning the thinnest of the books.
I finally found it.
Elmwood Elementary School.
I nearly ripped the old thing as I pulled it out of the shelf, just from the sheer excitement of it all!
I thumbed through the old pages. And I laughed slightly when I landed on the picture I was looking for. Absolutely priceless.
Andrew Acevedo, the cutest little boy on the face of the planet. He was kind of chubby back then, with a cute bowl haircut. I guess he grew into his features? Flipping through the pages, I found a picture of myself.
I was a cute little girl. My hair in pigtails, my face contorted into a strange squinted look. Damn, why couldn't I be that cute now?
But it was bothering me right then that Drew and my dad were still gone.
I sighed and slipped out the front door of my house to sit on the stoop.
Right then, all the air in my lungs was thrown out onto the sidewalk in front of me. I felt sick and collapsed into someone's waiting arms.

"It is only a matter of time, after all, she deserves it," I heard familiar voices around me
"Shut up, she's waking up," another voice said.
My eyes flittered open. In front of me was Topaz, her eyes burning with joy, and Xander, smiling evilly at Topaz and back to me. I couldn't see very far in front of me, everything past their faces was a blur.
