Chapter 9

Nico

Nico ran out the door and down the hall. He couldn't let the others know that Clara and Joe were demigods and Percy's siblings.

Nico ran into Clara's room. She and Joe were arguing. Nico had no idea what it was about, but they stopped once he ran in.

Snow swirled around them. It stopped with in seconds. Nico closed the doors. "They're on to me."

"I know." Clara said. "I was there."

"What? How?" Nico asked.

Clara held up her wrist. Her silver bracelet shined in the light. It had one charm. A trident. "Did you forget?" She asked. "I was invisible. I couldn't hold it for long though. Once you left, everyone ran after you so, I traveled through the water in the air and brought myself here."

"Oh, yeah." Nico said. "I keep forgetting about that."

Joe looked at Nico. And then at Clara. "Where are they in the tower?"

"I have no idea." Nico said. "They might find us any second." That's when they heard people running down the hall.

"I guess your right." Joe said. "Clara, can you spy on them?"

"I can't be invisible." Clara said. "They would trample me."

"Then think small." Nico said.

Clara smiled. She used one of her bracelet powers and turned into a mouse. She squeezed through the door. Clara ran down the hallway.

Nico heard Leo scream. Then he heard Reyna yell at him.

"Hide." Nico whispered. Joe looked around. Then he disappeared. He froze time. Clever. Nico thought.

Nico hid in a shadow. He heard Clint scream like a little girl. Then he heard Clint say, "No I didn't. But we are going on a mission. If you hear some loud noises outside, it's probably us."

He heard the others walk into the room. Clara sneaked in. In Hazel's hand was . . . A cat? Nico realized it was Frank.

Annabeth said,"Look in the shadows he could be hiding in there."

I'm dead. Nico thought.

He saw Clara run across the room. Leo screamed, again, and jumped into Percy's arms.

"Now I know how Reyna felt." Percy said. Clara made a squeaky sound. "I have a feeling it is laughing."

Reyna began to walk over by Nico. "Are you sure he's hiding in the shadows?"

"Almost 100% positive." Annabeth said.

"I can sense him. Reyna, he's in that shadow over there." Hazel pointed at Nico.

I knew it. Nico thought. I gotta get out of here.

Nico shadow traveled just before Reyna found him. Nico found himself in Joe's room next door. Joe jumped when he saw him. "Dude what happened?" He asked.

"They almost found me." Nico said.

"Where's Clara?" Joe asked.

"She's in the other room." Nico said completely out of breath.

"I thought you said he was here!" He heard Reyna say.

"He must've shadow traveled." Hazel said.

"Was it just me or was that mouse familiar?" Percy asked.

"Dude! We can talk about mice later!" Leo said.

Nico heard someone else behind the demigods. "What exactly is shadow travel?" Asked a voice.

"Hi, uh, Mr. Stark!" Annabeth said. "What do you mean?"

"What is shadow travel?" Stark asked again.

"We didn't say shadow travel, we said foreshadow gravel." Hazel said.

"What is that?" Stark asked.

"It's a game we made up when we get bored. We make sentences that make no sense." Hazel said.

"Yeah, it's really fun!" Frank said.

"You should've seen what Leo did earlier." Percy said.

"What was it?" Said Clint, who came up behind Stark. Nico shadow traveled into another shadow making sure he was hidden.

"Oh, it was. . ." Percy started. That's when Clara saved them.

"Leo said dogat pizza box." She said. "He's always making up random things like that."

Nico saw Black Widow appear behind the demigods. "How did he come up with that?" She asked Clara.

"Leo, is always coming up with crazy things that make no sense." Clara said. Nico had a feeling that the others were suspecting how Clara knew so much about Leo. He saw Annabeth look at Percy.

Her expression said, How does this mortal know so much about Leo?

Percy's read, How should I know?

"Yeah. I love to make up random things." Leo said. "I invented this game! Why did the Trojan cross the sea?"

"How should I know?" Cap asked, who came up behind Natasha.

"Dude! The Trojan crossed the sea to get the chicken. Duh!" Leo said.

"That makes no sense!" Stark laughed.

"That's the point, Uncle Stark!" Leo said.

Everyone laughed. Nico just smiled. Then Joe walked out of his room. "What are you people doing?"

"Making up random things that make absolutely no sense!" Percy said.

Annabeth elbowed him. "Seaweed Brain." She said.

"Okay?" Joe said. "Hey, Clara, I need to talk to you."

Clara nodded. "Okay, I'm coming."

Clara

Clara and Joe walked into his room. Nico appeared out of the shadows.

"Dad just I-Med me." Joe said. "They are in their way."

"What?" Clara said. "That can't be right! Are they going to invade Camp Half-Blood or are they coming for you, Nico?"

"He doesn't know." Joe said.

"Well that's not good." Nico said. "How long?"

"Any day now." Joe said.

Clara held out her hand. A snowflake appeared. "Let's hope this curse doesn't fail us again."

"Yeah." Joe said. "Hopefully they won't come here."

-------------About 9:47 PM-----------

Everyone was in the living room when Captain America walked in. "Stark, Fury needs to talk to you." Cap looked at the demigods. "Now."

Clara wondered what it was all about. She looked at her bracelet. She hid the mini trident charm and her tattoo along with Joe's with her invisible ability.

She sat on the couch next to her twin. On the other side of her was Piper. Everyone else was here except for Cap and Stark. Clint was going on and on about how he joined S.H.I.E.L.D. Clara kept thinking about the how the Darkness could travel so fast. She was staring off into space. She didn't notice Annabeth looking at her. She knew Annabeth thought she and her brother were the enemy.

"Hey, Claire," Joe said.

She came back to reality. "What?"

"Do you feel that?" Joe asked.

Clara did. She looked at Nico. He looked back.

"Do you have the dagger?" Joe whispered. Clara nodded.

There coming. Clara's dad said in her mind. You must do what you have to do. Don't let them get the last piece of world destruction!

Clara knew Joe heard it too. Nico shivered. They were here.
