Chapter 10

Percy

Percy was having a good time talking with the Avengers. He felt at home. Percy looked at the twins. They seemed to be scared. It seemed like they knew something was coming.

"I don't like them." Annabeth said. "They could be monsters."

"They could. They do seem oddly familiar. "

Annabeth watched the twins carefully along with Nico. Percy heard something come from upstairs.

"Let's check that out." Natasha said. She and the rest of the Avengers except Thor left.

Nico stood. His hand went to his sword. That's never good.

Percy stood. As did the rest of the demigods and Thor. "Nico what is it?" Reyna asked.

"I didn't think they'd do it." Nico said. Clara looked at Joe. "There here." He said.

"What?" Percy asked. "What is?"

Then a shadow jumped at Nico. The shadow grew into a man. Except it was a shadow man. Completely black with red eyes.

It had Nico against the wall. "Finally! The last piece!" It hissed. "Master will be so proud!"

"Not today!" Clara said as she disappeared. Then she reappeared behind the shadow. She grabbed it and it began to freeze. Then she pulled something out of the air. Riptide.

Percy checked his pockets. Riptide was gone. How did she summon it? He asked himself.

Clara stabbed the Shadow. She let go and tossed Riptide to the side. It dissolved into water. Percy checked his pockets. Riptide was back.

Nico appeared next to Clara. "I hope you have it."

"I never leave it alone." Clara laughed. She handed Nico a dagger as black as midnight. Nico stabbed the shadow. The dagger absorbed the Shadow.

More came. Joe took out a sword and began fighting them. Thor was staring at them. His mouth hit he floor. (Not literally.)

A shadow attacked Clara. The second it hit her, it froze. It hit the floor and shattered. Clara then did something unexpected. She created a barrier around the demigods and Thor.

Clara turned and disappeared. She reappeared at her brothers side helping him fight Shadows. She summoned Riptide again. She fought off many Shadows. Clara and Joe looked at each other. They nodded.

"We can't do this without using it." Clara said.

"I agree. Sorry about the water pipes!" Joe said.

Together they put out their hands. Water erupted from the walls, ceilings and floor. Percy now knew why he was in a barrier. A Shadow tried to grab Nico but failed. Nico lolled like he was about to kill someone. Percy moved a little over.

Clara controlled the water. So did Joe. Together they destroyed the Shadows. One Shadow stabbed Clara on her side.

She screamed and Joe ducked. A wave of ice caused all the shadows to freeze. The barrier broke.

"Clara!" Nico threw the dagger .Clara caught it and stabbed the last of the shadows.

Once they were gone she said, "Holy Hera. That hurt." She said. She was bleeding like crazy. She picked up some water in her hands and touched her side. The wound healed.

"Please let this be a dream." Percy said. With his eyes closed.

"Seaweed Brain. It's not." Annabeth said.
