Chapter 6

After our video call, I went straight to bed. I wasn't in the mood for anything else plus we had school tomorrow.
Ugh. School.
I didn't sleep well at all.
I had a horrible nightmare that Ben's, Hi's, Shelton's and my parents found out about our Viral powers. How we got them , what we had been doing with them, everything. Overall, it was like hell.
I woke up panting.
Coop cocked his head confusedly, he must've been awake for a while now.
"Just a nightmare boy, nothing much." I ruffled his fur.
I was distracted by a beeping noise.
Good morning Tory. Shelton. I hope you remember we have school.
Oh so sarcastic.
Don't worry I did.
Well, meet you at the docks.
Okay.
I dragged myself downstairs after dressing up and found a very restless Kit waiting at the breakfast table. Though he was trying to conceal it, I could sense his desperation.
"Good morning, Tory." He gave an overly enthusiastic smile.
What now?
"Good morning."
He poured me a cup of tea. I said my thanks and realised that the blonde bimbo wasn't here.
"Where's Whitney?" I wondered aloud.
"She went to town to get groceries."
There were a few minutes of awkward silence, which was finally interrupted by Kit,
"Umm...Tory? I want to talk with you."
Oh, here we go. This isn't gonna be a father and daughter moment.
"Yes?" I raised my eyebrows.
"How's school?"
That's it?
"It's going great."
"And what about Shelton..." His voice trailed away, "Are you two... "
I nearly spat out my tea.
Does he think that- no way, he can't.
"Are we two what?" I narrowed my eyes.
"What've you been doing these days? With the boys, I mean?" Kit ignored my question and tried to lighten the mood by adding, "Anymore treasure hunting?"
"No." I replied shortly, "Oh would you look at the time, I better be off." I attempted an escape.
Please let me go.
"Oh." He said, dully, "Bye then."
I ran out.
Thank you, Lord.
I ran smack into Ben.
"Hey." He said smiling.
"Come with me quick, I need to tell you something. Today morning, Kit-"
"Hey guys." Shelton strolled into view, with his hands in his pocket.
"Hi." Ben said.
"What? Where's Hi?" He looked everywhere wildly.
I smacked my forehead, "Not that Hi, hi as hey, hello, good morning." I said irritatedly.
"My bad." He riposted.
"What were you saying?" Ben turned to me.
"Let's go somewhere else and wait for Hi."
"Okay."
Hi joined us on our way to the docks.
"No one interrupts me while I speak." I shot at them, Hi in particular.
He threw up his hands in surrender, "I won't."
"This morning, Kit questioned me about what I was doing these days." I started,"He also kind of mentioned Shelton. He asked me what we were doing..."
Shelton looked taken aback, "He's not suggesting that we're..." His face turned slightly pink at the thought, "You know. He knows about you and Ben right?" For once not joking.
"I guess." I glanced up at Ben.
On the other hand I had never really told him about us. He just... knew.
Hi suppressed a snicker, "Oooh. How interesting. You didn't tell me Shelton."
Shelton glared at him, "Shut the crap."
I sighed, "Just leave it. We've still got school remember?"
"Oh yes, good point." Ben said, dully.
"Well let's go then!" Hi cheered.
He was certainly in a good mood today.
But the rest of us weren't.
