Enjoy!~~~
Buzz.
I felt something vibrate against my thigh.
I took out my phone, discreetly.
Text message. From Hi.
Yo! Are u getting anything she is droning on about?
I replied keeping my eyes on the teacher.
What I do understand is that u r not supposed to be texting in class.
I don't need another mother, thank you very much. Hey that rhymes! Another mother! Get it? Hi
Don't give me that. U need five mothers, Stolowitski. Don't reply.
Yes, mother.
I said don't reply. And I am not keen on being your mom.
So Ben's my dad?
I rolled my eyes at him, sitting in front of me and switched off my phone. I tried paying attention to what the teachers was saying.
She clapped, "Listen up, students." I looked up, "We have an exchange student, Emily Grinton. I expect all of you to be nice and..." She trailed off, then looked at Hi, "Mind your language. I don't want my students acting like a bunch of hooligans."
Hi looked offended at the prospect. I grinned evilly at him.
A girl came into view.
She had long dark hair and a slender figure. Somehow she looked familiar but I couldn't recall where I saw her before.
"Make yourself comfortable, Emily. If you need anything, don't hesitate to come and ask me."
She nodded shyly in response.
She looked around the class for an empty seat, which coincidentally happened to be the seat next to mine. She came and sat down rather quietly.
"Hi." I said.
Hi spun around, then realised what I had meant. Blushing, he turned back.
"Hello." She had a soft voice.
"I'm Tory. Nice to meet you." I held out my hand. She grasped it, reluctantly.
"You have a firm grip." I said, stupidly.
"Umm...okay?"
I could feel my face heat up.
Why did I say that?
The class flew by. I realised that she was a very conservative sort of person, and was very soft.
As the bell rang, I asked Emily, "Do you want to sit with us for lunch today?"
"Oh, sure! I'd love to."
"Come on then."
As we walked to the lunch hall, we made a stop at my locker.
"Oh hi, Shelton." I waved.
"Hey." He said, looking at Emily with interest as he walked to us, "Who is this? Haven't I seen you before? So where..." He thought hard.
"Pardon me?" She questioned.
"I know! You're that-" Shelton started.
"Hello friends and...new girl." Hi came into the picture.
"Hello, Hi." Shelton and I said together.
"Hey, nice pun."
"Excuse me?" Emily asked, politely.
"Hiram Stolowitski, at your service." He bowed
I sighed, "This one's called Hi."
"This one? What do you mean this one?" He protested, clearly not wanting to look bad in front of Emily.
"Hello, I'm Shelton. I think I saw you the other day, in that house boat of yours." Shelton said, plainly.
So that's where I saw her.
"Did you? That is where I'll be staying for my visit."
"Okay everyone. Enough of introductions. I'm hungry." I said, tapping my foot, impatiently.
"Well, what are we waiting for?" Hi declared.
And we had our fill.~~~
(Chance's POV)
I walked down the streets of Charlestown, thinking about our new flares.
What triggered it? What could have possibly done it?
And then I had the shock of my life. I bumped into a familiar face.
I stared at his face. He stared back. Both of us were too shocked to say anything.
"Watch where you are going, Claybourne." Will smirked.
"You should watch where you're going, Speckman." I replied, sounding like a five-year-old.
"Lack of words, Clayborne?" Will sneered.
I simply raised an eyebrow. I actually was at a lack of words. Meeting Will in an abandoned street was not an everyday event.
"Apparently you are." He riposted, "Anyway, watch your back. Yes you must watch your back. Streets can get dangerous at night, and I'm sure you don't want your pretty face to get ruined." And with that, he walked past me, out of sight.
What was that? Watch your back? What is he planning now?
