Chapter 9 Buses

The next day me and Vivi had called Sarah using the home phone Vivi has in her house. For a few minuets there was no answer. And I had thought she wouldn't pick up. Then I finally heard the noise it makes when someone answers.

"Yes Hello?" I heard Sarah's calming beautiful voice. That I had wanted to hear for so long.

I held the phone shakily in my hands as I almost cried, "S-Sarah....its me...No-nova...."

Vivi patted my back, as Sarah said very surprised. "NOVA!? WHERE ARE YOU CALLING  FROM!?"

"My friends home phone...her name is V-Vivi...." Tears started streaming down my face. "I-I'm sorry...that I left...left you....and everybody else...mostly you though."

Sarah said back to me through the phone, "No no no. Don't be sorry Nova. Everyone had been...surprised...but now that we know your still out there, we can reunite! Right?"

I shook my head saying into the phone, "I-I'm sorry but...no...maybe...maybe not now. But...soon." I took a deep breath as I cried more. "J-just know that I love you. And I won't ever stop."

I heard a shock in her time of voice as she replied, "Nova please don't leave me I love yo-" I then hung up. And sniffled looking at Vivi.

  I was then hugged as I cried into Vivi's shoulder. I couldn't go back. That would risk Sarah getting hurt. And I can't let that happen. No, I can't let Sarah die on me.

Vivi led me to my room and I laid down in bed. Eventually falling into a deep sleep. Soon I was engulfed in darkness. All I could see was a pitch black hole of nothingness.

A setting formed around me, as I soon found myself sitting at a table in Sarah's Bakery. I was with Dylan and Nolan, Mabel looking at us taking our orders. Ah yes, I remember this. It had been when I first met Mabel.

  I answered what I wanted. A little later when I was given the coffee, my eyes fluttered opened and I woke up in a cold sweat.  It had been mid-evening. Soon I got dressed and packed my stuff. Then proceeded to the living room.

Vivi sat there with her stuff packed in a suit case as well. She stood up looking at me. Fixing her fedora.

"If your going in coming with. No questions asked." She smiled.

Suddenly I knew I wasn't alone, so I smiled back at her and exited the house. She followed. We then got on a bus, and rode it. Going wherever it takes us.

I fell asleep on it eventually. And I'm guessing Vivi did too because when I woke up she was asleep. It was nighttime. And we were approaching a town, suddenly the bus stopped. Lights turning off. And I heard a noise coming from the roof of the bus. Sounded much like foot-steps.

I shook Vivi and she woke up rubbing her eyes, "Wha-why did we stop?"

I shrugged standing up and getting our suitcases. "Don't know don't care. We need to get off of this bus now."

Vivi stood up and I was facing her. I could barely make out anything in the dark, but I could see her pointing to behind me with a scared look. I tilted my head then looked behind me.

It had been the Demon Hunter.

Zelgadis Tachibana.

He must've found me and tracked me down. I gritted my teeth letting go of the suit cases. "LEAVE NOW!"

My fangs were showing and I didn't care.

But he raised his gun to my chest saying, "Now now calm down. Don't want to be violent when you die so we?"

My eyes widened, he was going to kill me? No. I won't let this happen. I was about to attack him, then Vivi she pushed he I to the seat moving me aside.

"DON'T YOU DARE HURT NOVA! SHE IS LOOKING FOR THE PERSON SHE LOVES! AND IF YOU THINK YOU CAN KILL HER. THEN YOU WILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH ME!" Vivi had yelled at Zelgadis defending me.

No no no. I put her in danger. She can't die either! And then when I was going to get up I heard an ear piercing sound. As I see blood from Vivi splatter everywhere.

He had shot her. Shot her in the stomach. And now. She's dead. I. How did I let this happen? What did I ever do?

I looked up to see Zelgadis looking at Vivi's dead body that laid on the floor. Well dying body.

He then said, "She was annoying. But it seems I must leave now. We shall continue from where we started next time."

He then walked off the bus leaving. I quickly got up and say down beside Vivi. Crying my eyes out as she bled to death.

"V-Vivi! Don't die...don't go...I can't make it to Sarah without you...without...my best friend." I sniffled, "You would love Sarah us know...s-she was so nice...and friendly to everyone....please....don't go...."

She coughed up blood and looked at me shaking. "It's...fine...." Vivi smiled. "Ju-just...tell Sarah...h-hi for me....Okay?....It was nice....getting to see you again Nova...." She closed her eyes. "I-I'm getting sleepy...."

I shook her my eyes widening. "NO VIVI WAKE UP! WAKE UP!...Wake....up...!" I cried.

She was gone now. And it's my fault. I shouldn't have let her come with me. I shouldn't have let her come with me to find Sarah. To go back home.

I screwed up.

And this time it wasn't a dream.

Fuck.
