JERIC’S POV
It’s a clear and beautiful Monday morning and I’m on my way to UST for our practice. Can’t believe two days ago lang yung first date namin ni Sol. It feels like a lifetime and I miss her already. Since she doesn’t have a social media account we texted each other the whole Sunday or sometimes I call just so I can hear her voice and laugh. I don’t know what happened but she’s got me wrapped around her finger, in a good way though. By quarter to 7 nakarating na ko ng school. I immediately made my way to QPav and upon entering sandamakmak na hiyawan, pang-aasar at body slams ang sumalubong sa akin.
“Ayan na si lover boy!” Aljon yelled.
“San ba pwede mag-enroll for the Jeric Teng School of Damoves?” Paulo asked.
“Oo nga, sign up tayo. Paturo naman dyan, Cap!” Tata said.
“Idol talaga. Wala, game over e. Na-set na ni Jeric yung standard,” Kim added.
“Sorry, hindi natuturo yun. I was born with it,” I replied as a joke.
“Eyyyy iba si Teng e,” Ron said.
“Oi tama na yan malapit na tayo mag-umpisa. Ikaw naman Jeric ano inaantay mo dyan magbihis ka na aba hindi ako si Solara kaya hindi gagana yang pagpapa-cute mo sa akin,” Coach shouted which caused everyone to laugh.
“Sorry na po Coach! Ito na nga e.” I answered then went to the locker room to change.
As usual go hard kami lalo na ongoing ang season. School-training-home. Ganyan lang ang routine everyday and it’s a sacrifice that we have to make as an athlete. It’s also something na kailangan maintindihan ng mga tao sa paligid namin. It’ll sound selfish but basketball comes first. Always. Kaya nga most of us walang lovelife at kung meron man sobrang saludo kami dun dahil mahirap talaga. Pero iba na sitwasyon ko ngayon. I need to balance everything plus my ‘relationship’ with Solara. Given that we’re still not officially together but syempre courting needs time and effort as well. I promised my parents, Coach Pido, and my teammates that I’m focused on my priorities and I will be more diligent in order to make this work. As a captain I cannot afford to lose sight and let them down. They’re counting on me. Well I don’t think naman Solara is a distraction, more than anything else she has been my inspiration. Mas masipag ako pumasok sa klase at intense during training and games. She has been a positive force in my life and pushing me to be better in all aspects. Pagtapos ng practice naligo na kami and donned our uniform for class.
“So anong plano mo ngayon? May next move ka na ba?” Kevin asked.
“Nothing so far. Easy lang muna ulit. Tutal we’re exclusively dating kaya I’m sure wala ng makakasingit,” I replied.
“Sure ka ba? Malay mo may umaaligid pa. Pano yung na-kwento mo dati? Tyler ba pangalan nun?” Ed asked.
“Wala na yun. He won’t interfere. Sa totoo lang sa ginawa ko nung Sabado may babangga pa ba sa akin?” I answered smugly.
