 SOLARA’S POV

“I’m not gonna leave you here with him.” Jeric said.

“Just go. I’ll be alright,” I replied softly. I dragged him to prevent a serious brawl from happening.

“But I don’t like the guy. He might do or say something to hurt you,” he said anxiously.

“No. He’s Caleb. Hurting me is the one thing he’ll never do.”

Jeric looked torn so I hugged him tight then leveled his face close to mine. “If you don’t trust him then trust me. Can you do that?” I asked.

He sighed and answered, “Okay. But you have to contact me as soon as you’re done talking. You understand?”

“Yes sir.”

Lalapitan ko na dapat si Caleb when he seized my arm to face him and kissed me on the lips. It was short and sweet but I was too shocked to react.

“Ako nalang di ba? Ako lang. I love you,” he said that as if to remind me. He glared at my ex-boyfriend before walking away. Oh boy.

“That sneaky bastard. Hinalikan ka niya to get back at me as if that’ll work. I had you first,” Caleb said with a smirk.

“Tama na nga. Let’s get this over with,” I replied.

He grabbed me by the hand and steered me towards one of the benches. We sat and faced each other. His eyes were piercing through me. Those blue orbs used to be my favorite but now I can’t even stare at him straight to his face. “Solara… Why did you leave me like that? We were so happy and in love I don’t understand,” he whispered.

“Something happened and I needed to get away from everyone,” I answered calmly.

“Was it because of me? Did I do something?” He asked.

“No. Honestly, you were the hardest part that I had to let go.”

“You broke up with me by leaving a message on the fucking answering machine. I mean, seriously? That was a low blow Sol.”

“I know and I’m truly sorry about that. It was wrong. But I wouldn’t be able to break up in person. Hindi ko kakayanin. One glance and I’d probably run back to you at that time,” I confessed.

“Ang labo. Why call it quits then? I went to your house everyday for weeks but they wouldn’t let me in. I called and texted you a hundred times a day but you didn’t answer. Then the news came out that you flew to New York to study without saying goodbye. Ikaw yung buhay at mundo ko pero iniwan mo ko sa ere ng ganun. It was painful. Too much,” he said then his tears fell but silently wiped them with his thumb.
