Both sets of our guests are late. It is 1:30, and they were supposed to arrive noon. I already half-expected Alois and Elizabeth to be late as they have to travel through London to get to the manor. Lay and his plus one however have no excuse.
"Claire, please stop pacing." Ciel almost sounded like he was begging. Almost.
"I am truly sorry, Ciel. It helps calm my nerves. I mean they are an hour and a half late! Ciel. What if they don't come?!"
"Claire, now you're babbling. Trust me when I say that while Lau is a complete arse, he never breaks his word."
"Heavens! They're here, Ciel! Alright everyone, look sharp. Ciel, please straighten your tie."
I watch with nervous anticipation as the Brougham-and-Pair carriage we sent for Lau approaches the manor.
