Third Person POV:
Laura walked down the hall of her school, everything seeming normal. She held her notebook loosely in her right hand, almost to the last class of the day, Math.
She was startled when one of her friends popped up behind her, throwing an arm around her shoulders.
"Oh my God, Laura!" Chelsea exclaimed.
"What? Did you have to scare me like that?" She held her hand to her chest and tried to get her breathing back to normal.
"No, listen, I heard from Kevin that eleven students were gone from his third period English class," she rushed out, still clinging onto her clueless friend's shoulder tightly.
"Eleven?" Laura questioned in disbelief, "eleven students just gone?"
Chelsea nodded her head feverishly, "yep."
"And Kevin told you this? Isn't he the guy no one talks to?" She asked, her eyebrows furrowing together.
"No! Kevin Baker told me. I wouldn't talk to Kevin Frey even if he was the last boy alive. He picks his nose," they both shuddered.
"Okay, so I know that eleven students is quite a surprising number, but is there a reason to question their whereabouts?" Laura asked, seeming uninterested.
"Yes, Kevin said that he saw four of the eleven students before school started in the parking lot and he also saw the fifth student in his first period class. Isn't it suspicious that they just disappeared at once?"
Laura slowed down, thinking, "it is suspicious. Who were they?" She asked.
"Well, the four Kevin saw in the parking lot were Chris and Jason from the football team, and Matt and Jessica, you know, the cutest couple in the school," Chelsea informed.
"Oh yeah," Laura's eyes widened, "Chris wasn't there in fourth period."
"Maybe it was an alien invasion," Chelsea said completely serious.
They both stared at each other for several moments in a serious manner before bursting into giggles and shaking their heads.
Laura stopped laughing suddenly and nudged Chelsea's shoulder.
"It gives me the creeps though. How they all just disappeared," she whispered.
"Eh, they're probably playing a prank on everyone. Trying to give everyone a scare," Chelsea shrugged the issue off, but deep down inside Laura still had her doubts.
Clutching her notebook tighter to her chest and pulling her sweater, she looked around at all the oblivious students.
Did they feel even a little suspicious? She wondered if they even knew.
Approaching her math class, she looked around at all the students chatting and laughing.
Her eyes landed on an empty desk. Jessica's desk. Was she mysteriously gone too? Or was she actually absent?
Thoughts raced in her mind and she cracked her knuckles nervously.
Taking a deep breath, she convinced herself that this was just a coincidence and that there's nothing to be nervous about.
"Nothing to be scared of," she mumbled to herself, opening her blue notebook and retrieving a pencil from her backpack.
"Nothing to be scared of," she mumbled again, attempting to convince herself.
"It's all okay," even as she tried to calm herself down, her heart was beating out of control and her palms were beginning to sweat.
If only she knew the danger that was happening to these students.
