Opal's POV
The heartless way he slammed that metal bat onto her head twice shook me.
Fear, not just for myself, but for her too, invaded every single inch of me.
He straightened and pushed back a few loose pieces of hair. He then proceeded to lean the bat against the wall.
I could help but cry at what I had just witnessed. I knew there was no questioning it, he was crazy.
My soft whimper drew his attention to me. He smiled, an evil, sick smile, the corners of his eyes pinching together.
"Don't worry, it won't happen to you sweetie."
Of course, I wasn't worried about meeting the same fate. These tears were for her. Somehow I knew I wouldn't get out of here alone.
I mumbled a string of nonsense that I knew he didn't understand, but in all honestly I didn't care.
He picked her up effortlessly, and dropped her onto a chair in the corner.
I tightened my hands over the wooden arms of the chair I was sitting on uncomfortably. My short fingernails scratched at the surface.
I had attempted to break the ropes binding me. Unfortunately, when he had injected me with the needle, he'd tied the knot tightly.
The very same way he was doing to Natalie.
Once finished, he stood, admiring his work as if he'd just baked a cake he was proud of.
Looking back to me, a wide smile was spread across his face.
"What do you think sweetie?" He motioned toward what he had done.
His back straight, and his hands on his hips, he looked everything like a proud father.
I narrowed my eyes at him, wishing my glare would put him six feet under.
He wasn't wavered by my stare, in fact, he smiled even wider, something glinting in his eyes.
Madness. Complete and utter madness.
Through painful tears, I continued to glare at him.
I never once wished death upon someone, but I'm not ashamed to admit that I desired death upon that monster.
He walked to me, his footsteps gentle as if approaching a small animal.
His smile changed, as if trying to comfort me, yet his eyes still held that evil glint.
"You shouldn't cry. You will never get hurt. I'll make sure of that," his lips tilted slightly into a smirk.
I didn't attempt to talk for I knew it was useless. I kept the harsh look in my eyes though. I hate you.
"You shouldn't look at me that way. I'm protecting you from the impending death you would've had to face," his face hardened slightly. His smile faltered and the anger intensified in his stormy eyes.
If I could've, I would've laughed right in his dreadful face while looking into his atrocious eyes.
Life with you is death.
I wasn't expecting it, the slap that left the left side of my face stinging.
Although he meant to slap the submission into me, I wasn't about to let him dominate me.
"Be thankful I didn't let you die first," he growled, fully angered now. His hands clenched tightly into shaking fists and his eyes a raging storm.
