One of the main things that annoy me about wearing a brace is that people treat you differently.

Like ya, I know that I can't do every little thing a normal human can do
I might not be able to touch my toes, but who gives a shit. (not that I was able to do that anyway but whatevs)

People like this fall into one of these categories..

1.
The people who think you're dying.

Most of the people in this group are fellow students/not so close friends. The oned that see you in the locker room putting it on, or bump into you in the hall and feel something hard stab them, then ask "what was that?"

Some people act like they've never heard of scoliosis before, and I do understand that not everybody does. But these people take their reaction to the extreme. "OMG ARE YOU OKAY??!?!?!" "CAN I HELP YOU WITH ANYTHING?!?!?" Like gurl, I'm fine.

Honestly, when people ask me about it, I say it's armour, because it makes me feel cool. Even though I know they dont believe me, they just kinda nod awkwardly and walk away.

2.
the bitches who think it's a toy

This category is dedicated to the people who sit behind you in class, and then decide to POKE YOU. WTF

My best friend last year would knock on my back in the middle of the hallway when everyone was quiet. And when she wouldn't stop when I asked i turned around and slapped her on the arm, and got yelled at by my math teacher but, #worthit

3.
The perfect ones

These are the people who are educated about scoliosis and understand the process of wearing a brace.

God bless.
