If you're a teen like me, you've probably been silenced, criticised, made fun of or just straight up ignored by adults before. I don't understand! I wish adults could just understand the importance of our voices.. teenagers are capable of so much more! They just act as if we are little peasants who do not know anything about the world. Think about it.
I honestly don't understand why they treat us like that.. If you'be read the previous chapters, you must be knowing by now that I absolutely loathe school. When I told my parents about this, they looked at me as if I was mad and told me that I am young and I don't know anything. But really, though, once I got into my research, I was really astonished at how idiotic adults can be! I did more and more research and I realised how damaging our school system can be.
And what's more astonishing is that my teachers at school are as clueless as us. When I asked a few of my teachers why we need exams and standardised testing, they replied with answers that made no sense to me. One of them said, "I don't know. All I know is that you have to study, study, study..."
Like, seriously???? What kind of an answer is that?? Another teacher said, "We have exams so that you learn. You must have seen your friends and all, they only learn when the examinations are close."
What. The. Heck. That utterly makes no sense to me. I'm not stupid, okay? I learn all the time. Whatever I'm curious about. Us teenagers have very special brains. Our prefrontal cortex is underdeveloped which causes us to make bad decisions, but we have more nerve cells than adults - which makes us extremely creative and moody. But leaving aside moody, I think creativity is extremely important! We can probably solve the world's biggest problems. But these changes are impossible without adults. Therefore, I ask for the co-operation of adults.
And encourage your own generation. Harness ideas.
And then, I think we can change the world and make it a better place..
