Let me start with an explanation of what belly dance is. You could call it "the most feminine dance form". It involves a lot of movement of the hips and chest. If at all your parents saw you doing belly dance, they'd probably be ashamed. And if you're a boy, they'd be twice as ashamed.
But mind it, it's really good for women. It helps ease child birth and it stops period pains. Like, which female wouldn't want that? No period cramps?? Hell yeah!! Healthy kids and an easy childbirth?? Hell yeah!! It even sculpts the body to make it look more womanly, you know? A lil' bit of some curves added in~
Truth is, I've learned belly dance for a year now. I'm really lucky to be having such an amazingly open-minded family. I'm a teenager, as well, so people get surprised when they learn of this fact. Belly dance is great. Gotta admit.
Nowadays, moving in a feminine manner is looked down upon. Masculine movement is the only movement acceptable in public, but then you also need to add a bit of femininity in your movements (if you're a girl), because you'll get criticism otherwise. It's frustrating.
You can connect this to the exploitation of nature (pollution, deforestation). How? Let me explain - but just keep in mind, that this is purely my own conclusion and doesn't have solid, solid proof. Okay? Here we go~
Nature is often associated with femininity. It's associated with The Mother. If you look at it, nature is really just like women in so many ways. It comes in all forms - the desert, the rainforest, the deciduous forest, the deep craters.... it's unpredictable, but equally predictable at the same time. For instance, a long time ago, people cut trees and did as they liked with Nature. They knew that there were gonna be consequences, but the consequences didn't appear immediately. But the consequences are definitely here today. Get it? Unpredictable, but predictable at the same time.
This is how women deal with humiliation. This is how modern feminism came into being, after centuries of suppression.
The thing is, we've forgotten what a woman is. If a woman needs to succeed, she must become a man. She must shun her womanly parts, conform and work like a man. Most importantly, we're in danger. If this suppression of femininity continues, I really don't know how this world will function.
Since people have forgotten what a woman is, they continue to treat Nature and women with no regard. They think she'll endure every thing. But really, she isn't going to. And pushing the limits of the feminine spirit, is one the worst things that anyone could ever do.
Protecting nature isn't just about "don't cut trees", "don't throw garbage". It's a lot more than that.
One of the ways by which we can restore the feminine, is by teaching people about belly dance. Tbh, I think all girls should learn belly dance, but that's only my opinion. Secondly, don't deem feminine movement and body parts as vulgar. PLEASE. DON'T DO THIS. IT IS A FORM OF EXTREME SUPPRESSION OF WOMEN. WE DIDN'T ASK FOR THIS BODY. (Or maybe we did?? But anyways, please don't do that.)
Women are wild. And I mean it in a good way. Their bodies are like the Earth. Their emotions are like the complicated life ecosystems, they have nourishing soil on their skin, they have rivers in their bloodstreams.
The quote "love her, but let her stay wild." Is something we all can use when dealing with women.
