Say Something by A Great Big World cover by Boy Epic
Aurora admired the beauty of nature around her. It reminded her of home and when her family would go camping every year. That was back when everything was perfect, when her family was still a family. But now her parents had decided they no longer loved each other and moved thousands of miles to get away from one another. Aurora never understood how they could do that: how they could fall out of love.
She always thought that when you fell in love with someone you would always love them. That was the case between her and Max anyways. She had loved her nerdy neighbor for as long as she could remember. She thought maybe it had started when he gave her a dandelion out of his lawn when they were just little kids and everything after that was history.
She began to space out and think about him, the way he would snort when he laughed, his bushy eyebrows, his forearms that for some reason Aurora found so damn attractive. What she missed most about him though was the way his eyes would light up when he would talk about hockey: his passion. Now not everyone in Canada loved hockey despite the stereotypes but her brothers and boyfriend did.
She started to miss him; so much that a hole in her heart started to form. He was her best friend since diapers and after having to move to a different time zone really messed with her. Suddenly the camping trip didn't sound so much fun anymore. She just wanted to be wrapped up in Max's arms.
"Got you," a voice yelled from behind her, scaring her half to death. Before she could spin around two arms wrapped around her waist and lifted her off the ground. From the sound of his laugh she knew it was Keenan so she let herself relax.
"Let me go," she protested but only half-heartedly.
"Let you go huh," he asked before dropping her completely to the ground so she fell on her butt. When she looked up at him with an angry expression he kneeled down and said, "That was for punching me yesterday."
She scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Get over it rich boy." Before he could react Aurora grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled him down so he was lying beside her. "That's for being a weirdo."
"You're so mean," he whined, although amused. "Have you always been this way?"
Aurora didn't hesitate before saying, "Yes."
Keenan only laughed and shook his head. Quickly, without thinking he leaned over and began to tickle her sides. He thought it would be a good idea and it was proven when she began to laugh uncontrollably.
Keenan continued to do it for a couple minutes while Aurora begged him to stop. He didn't want to though because he loved seeing her underneath him like that, as sexual as that sounds. But Keenan was an eighteen year old boy; he couldn't really help what dirty things went on in his mind.
So, once again without thinking much about it at all Keenan leaned down and kissed her.
...
India tried to keep quiet Jesse led her through the woods. She didn't want to cause any trouble or make him angry like he was the day before. But she was concerned with the fact that he was supposed to be taking her back to camp but the time seemed to drag on. They should have arrived back at camp at least ten minutes ago.
"Jesse," she said cautiously. He was ahead of her but not by far. For the first couple minutes of walking he seemed to be taking twice as big as steps as India so she was forced to keep up. But eventually he slowed down and was right in front of her. "Are we lost?"
"No," he said simply.
She gulped and looked around at her surroundings. She didn't recognize anything around her, not that she expected to but she knew for a fact now that she wasn't where she was supposed to be.
