Sherri's POV
"I'm home!" I yelled, arriving at my house that evening after the auditions.
"Hey Sher!" Kamar yelled back from the TV room.
It sounded like the game was on, and I wasn't too interested.
I went to the kitchen, grabbed two glasses and a bottle of wine, and went to the TV room."How was your day?" He asked when I got there.
"It was pretty good, what about you?"
"Average." He smiled.
"Wine?" I offered.
"Always." He laughed.
We sat watching the game for about 5 minutes, when I decided to start another conversation.
"So you remember I was telling you about Teri?" I began.
"Mhm." He nodded into his wine glass.
"And how she auditioned for Stef on The Fosters?"
"Mhm." He said again.
"She killed it." I smiled. "She was so good!! I will be soooo surprised if she doesn't get the part. She was just amazing."
"How so?" Kamar asked.
"I just...I can't even describe it to you! Just...the chemistry we had during our read was undeniable."
"Is that something I should be worried about?" He laughed.
"No." I stated, defensively. "We were acting."
"I know." He laughed again.
An awkward silence went by, until I said,
"I'm gonna go out."
"Where?" Asked Kamar. "You just got home."
"I don't know. Maybe I'll get some dinner."
"Ok. Come home soon." He smiled.
"I will."
I grabbed my keys and purse and opened the front door. When I got to the driveway, there was a familiar car parked next to mine.
To my surprise, Teri came around the corner of the car, greeting me with a big smile.
"Teri?" I asked. "What are you doing here?"
"I uh...I didn't have anything going on tonight. I figured maybe you wanted to do something...?" She replied hesitantly.
"Of course!" I smiled. "Thank god. I needed to get away from that stupid game he's watching. I watched for about 20 minutes, and I can honestly say that I don't remember what sport it was."
"Oh my god Sherri." Teri laughed.
"What do you wanna do?" I asked, after we were done laughing.
"I don't know about you, but I'm pretty hungry." She smirked.
"Dinner?" I asked.
"Obviously." She laughed.
-----------We pulled up to a diner that was a town over from ours.
"What's this?" I asked.
"My favorite place." Teri smiled. "Trust me, you'll love it. I don't get to go here often. You know, kids, my job...so I take every chance I get. They're great here."
"Teri!!" The hostess smiled when we walked in.
"Hey how are you?" She waved. "This is my friend Sherri."
"Hi Sherri." The hostess smiled and I waved.
"Two?" She asked."Yup." Teri nodded.
The hostess led us to a table and took our drink orders.
"Brent is working." The hostess said. "You want me to tell him you're here?"
"Hell yeah!" Said Teri.
"Who's Brent?" I whispered when the hostess walked away.
"My favorite waiter." Teri laughed.
I kind of felt jealous...and possessive.
"I see." I said.
Brent soon came over and greeted Teri with a kiss on the hand.
I thought to myself,
'Isn't it common courtesy to NOT do that when you can see that someone is on a date...?? No, not a date, a...friendly...dinner? Well I guess it's technically a dinner date.'"And this is the gorgeous Sherri Saum." Teri introduced me, interrupting my thoughts.
"How do you do, Sherri?" Brent smiled.
Brent and Teri talked for a while and he finally took our orders.
When he walked away, Teri and I started talking about the audition.
"I'm nervous." Teri said.
"I was too. I remember exactly what I was doing when I got the call." I reminisced.
Teri raised her eyebrows and smirked.
"I was lying in bed." I continued. "I had had a headache all day and I thought that I was terrible at the audition because I was practically miserable thanks to my head. I was crying, and telling Kamar how upset I was because I wanted the part soooo bad. Then my phone rang so I jumped up, wiped my tears and answered it. It was Bradley telling me I got the part." I smiled. "And I was so happy I started bawling my eyes out...again."
Teri laughed.
"That's adorable." She said."Adorable, huh?" I flirted.
"Yes, adorable." She smiled.
I smiled at her and we looked into each other's eyes for what seemed like an eternity. The waiter came over, interrupting us, but he didn't have food with him...just a phone.
"Teri? It's for you...he says you'll know who he is." Brent said, handing the phone to Teri.
"It's Bradley its Bradley!!" I squealed.
"Hello?" Asked Teri. "What? Wait...Landon?? What the?? Why are you calling??"
Teri seemed pissed off...it obviously wasn't Bradley...it was someone named Landon.
"Landon I need you to calm down and explain what's going on." She spoke into the phone. "You're what? Why?! Why didn't you call my cell- shit I left it at home.....if you go near it or her, I swear to god I will kill you. Yes that's a threat!!"
"We have to go." Teri practically yelled, hanging up the phone and collecting all her stuff.
"What's wrong love??" I asked, getting up with her.
'I called her "love"'. I thought to myself, but it wasn't the time to reflect on it.
"My ex-husband, Landon, haven't seen him since my 8 year old daughter was two, he's threatening to go to the house and take stuff."
"Is Madison there?!?!" I asked.
Madison is her daughter."Yes, she's there with my neighbor who's like 18, she's the babysitter. We need to go." She said again.
"Hey, hey." I said, calming her down as we walked out. "Gimme your keys, I'll drive."
Teri took a deep breathe.
"You're right I'm too frazzled." She said. "Thank you."
"Don't." I shook my head. "It's what friends do."
