Nick and I went home and put the groceries away. Jade and Ian invited us to a party this Friday. Of course, I declined and Nick agreed. He kept begging me to go and I ignored his request.I hated parties. Sweaty bodies, stuffy room, drunk teenagers everywhere and running away if the police show up? Not my thing. I rather stay home and read. I love reading, especially my mother's novels. My mother was a writer before she died. She was loved by many because of her phenomenal stories.
"Ms Styles, can we play with your cat?" A girl with pigtails came into my room beside her brother who had crazy curly red hair.
"Sure. And Julia,James please stop calling me Ms Styles." They nodded and left with Pearl.
I was alone, accompanied with my thoughts. Nathan called me to talk about the science presentation. I didn't answer because I wasn't in the mood. I ignored his calls and re-read on of my mother's novels.
I held a book that was titled "A New Chapter." The book was about a guy who lost everything but found a girl who filled the hole in his heart. It reminded of me but I didn't found a guy to fill my hole in my heart. I imagined it would be Nick but its been eight years and the hole was still there.I read the book and eventually fell asleep.
...
I woke up in the middle of the night with tears in my eyes. I always had these horrible nightmares. It was always the same. The nightmare was about the day I lost them. That was the reason I was never over it, my mind kept reminding me.
I walked downstairs to grab a quick glass of milk. Ms Cocina was doing some paper work in the kitchen. She noticed I was cry because my eyes were really red.
"V? Are you okay?"
"I'm okay, Ms Cocina. It was just a bad dream."
"Violet Kylie Styles." I gulped as she called me by my full name. I hated it when she did that. But on the other hand, I hated a lot of things.
"How dare you lied to me."
God she was dramatic.
"I'm okay Ms Cocina, really."
"Is it about your parents?"
Oh no.
She walked to me and gave me a hug. I awkwardly stood there, not knowing what to do. She patted me on the back and continued to do her work. I walked out the kitchen and saw Julia sitting on the staircase. She was crying.
"Julia? What's the matter?"
"I miss mommy and daddy."
I sat next to her and talked softly. She lost her parents and she was only five.
"Me too."
"How did you lost them?"
"I don't remember but all I know they're in a better place. I'm sure your parents are too."
Of course that wasn't true. The not remembering part I meant. I remembered it like it was yesterday. I left Julia alone as she ran to Ms Cocina.
