Chapter 9

Chapter 9:

I open my eyes slowly, feeling groggy. I'm tightly wrapped in covers yet I continue to shiver. A cold weight is on my head and I struggle to move my hand and touch it. An ice pack?

What happened?

I sigh, resting my head down on a pillow behind me.

Then I see Luke.

On his phone, biting his nails quickly. It comes back to me all at once. My head slammed on a door, I fell hard on the floor.

And embarrassed myself infront of them. Luke.

I want to sob, curl in a ball, pretend nothing ever happened and that I was with my mum, my brave, strong mum, who loved and cared for me when no one else did. Why me, of all people, be dropped into this terrible life, like a piece of cloth.

"Sophie, Sophie!" Luke smiles. I look at him, confused. Why is he smiling?

"Hey, I um-"

"I'm so glad you're ok," he whispers, and leans forward, placing a gentle kiss on my cut lips and running his hand through my tangled hair. A feeling of warmth spreads through me, stopping me from shivering and I close my eyes, enjoying every moment.

"Luke is she-oh, ok then!"

Calum walks in, and Luke immediately pulls away from me. I whimper quietly, but no one hears it.

"Thank god you're ok," he breathes, and puts a glass of water on the table. "Drink, you need it" he says as he walks over to the kitchen. "Ashton! Get the fuck over here she is up!"

Ashton runs out of the kitchen and hugs me. "I'm so fucking sorry Sophie. Are you ok? Do you feel ok?" he says, and I inhale the smell of his strong cologne.

"I'm, fine thanks," I stutter. He lets me go and I try to move and put my head up, but a stinging pain goes straight to my head. I groan.

"Hey, hey (A.N HAYLEY WON'T YOU SAVE ME!) don't- don't hurt yourself," he pleads and grabs the water for me. I smile at him and lie back down as Ashton turns on the TV. The news immediately comes on.

"Ew, old people stuff," I giggle and snuggle into the covers.

"Wait, look at this..." Luke eyes widen.

"Missing person Sophie Williams has been missing for 2 weeks now. Parents and family are worried sick looking for the 18 year old brunette who was seen last at Empire Bridge at 1:00 am on Saturday."

The screen turns to a scruffy man, who looks worried sick.

My dad. 'Dad.'

"Please, if you find my daughter, call me at 3285382957982352 (A.N random number ok then) or the police. Thank you so much. I'm so worried."

He begins to cry and I cringe inside, everyone else thinks that he is a good man.

Little do they know.

"Sophie..." Luke whispers, "what do we do know...?"

I look in shock at the TV screen, unable to move.

"He...he knows...he..h-he is coming" Tears prick at my eyes and I hide under the covers.

"Sophie don't.." Luke whispers and cuddle me, holds me in his arms and kisses my head, rubbing my back.

"Michael, Calum come over here!" Ashton shouts.

"WHYYY? I'm eating for gods sakeeee!" Michael muffles.

"COME THE FUCK OVER HER RIGHT FUCKING NOW!" Luke screams and I whimper and dig my head closer into his chest, hearing his heartbeat to calm myself down.

"Fine..." Michael says annoyed and comes over to the living room with Calum.

"WHAT!" he says as he sits on the couch and I stand and run upstairs, go into the bathroom and lock the door.

I don't know what to do anymore.

I end up lying on the floor, crying and crying. I want to do something, to end my pain, to do something I've always wanted to do.

But I can't let down Luke.

But I don't want to live either.

Luke's POV:

I watch Sophie walk up the stairs crying, sniffling and hear her close a door.

What do I do?

I slam my hand on my forehead and groan. "Really, Michael?"

"What?" he sounds annoyed. Ashton shakes his head.

"The fucking police are trying to find Sophie, and her FUCKING ABUSIVE DAD!" I cry.

Michael stares at me. "What...?"

Ashton nods and slams a pillow on his head.

"Are you serious," Calum says, trying to stay calm."

"Guys, I know what to do. We go on a road trip."

I walk upstairs and knock on the bathroom door. "Sophie?" I whisper. No answer. "Sophie...? SOPHIE!"
