Jace's PoV

I see realisation hit him "l know about you, I hear the alphas and Lunas talk about you a lot they really love and trust you. They say your the alphas best friend since you all were smaller and that you would always look out for them because your five years older than them. That makes you twenty seven now right?" He says. "That's right doll, how old are you and Tyler now?" I ask and I'm immediately sorry for bringing up Tyler's name. He tenses but answers "we're nineteen just like our cousins but they are a month older than us, our birthday was two weeks ago. I hate this Jace, we should be all together getting to know each other, instead we are here and it feels wrong but so right too, like I know part of the puzzle is missing but I'm happy to have you. Do you understand?"

"Yes my wolf is howling to 'get other mate' but I am trying to keep him at bay for now and respect Tyler's wishes. I promise I'll never harm you and I will do everything in my power to make sure your safe from any harm" I tell him. I take him into my lap and start feeding him slowly. I know from the twins that they have isolated themselves from the pack for the most part and Luka and Lucas are finding it difficult to ensure they eat enough. They are trying to be supportive but they are turned away at all advances.

Damon told me of the nights their Lunas spend outside my twins room trying to gain access in order to help them through what sound like horrific nightmares, but they are always told "we're ok thanks for trying but we'll be ok" by the twins as soon as they calm down. I know it's going to be a hard road ahead but I realise that I'm lucky I have the trust of one of them for now, especially since it's Skyler. From what little information I have about my boys I've gathered that Skyler was mostly affected by the past and he's the most withdrawn.

So its no wonder it was such a shock to all of us, outside the reception, that he stood up for our mate bond. I am still undecided on whether I should be happy or sad that he did. I know my wolf and I are happy but then the look on Tyler's face, so full of hurt, fear and rejection flashes in our minds and the sadness creeps in. Add to that the redness in Skylers eyes right now and the waves of anxiety and sadness radiating from him and it's all one big mess in my mind and heart. I'm being torn in two but I can't show it because if my tiny mate notices it'll break him further and I'll never do that to him.

After getting half the food into him he tells me he's full, I don't want to push too much too fast so I leave it for now, when I get him home I'll work on it with him. When I clean up our stuff I lie down on the bed next to him and notice his eyes fill with tears again "don't cry love, talk to me" I whisper to him. He sniffles but shuffles down next to me so we're face to face on our sides, I stroke my fingers through his hair softly and he gives a sigh of content.

It takes a few minutes of him taking deep breaths but he eventually relaxes, so much so, his eyes start to droop. I realise he's basically purring so I drag his body into mine and lay his head on my chest, he snuggles into me and says "need mate, need brother, not a happy wolf" and I realise it's his wolf talking. I allow my wolf forward to respond "don't worry pup, we will take care of you and mate". Skyler visibility relaxes from hearing this and starts to softly snore right away. I will do everything I can to fix this.

'Marco' I link my best friend and beta 'yes alpha' he returns. 'Please get Tony and Brad and ask them to go to Luka and Lucas house, I need to stay here with my tiny mate but need to know my other precious mate is safe' I ask him to get my two top warriors. At least I know he won't be alone. Fifteen minutes later I get a link from Tony that boils my blood, 'sir, there is another male wolf here and he's acting protective of the Luna. He says we need to leave that the Luna is sleeping and has had enough for today'

'Who the fuck is this wolf, how dare he decide anything to do with my mate-' just as I am about to give the order to destroy him Rory rushes into our room. My hackles rise and I pull Skyler under me carefully so I don't wake him. "Alpha Jace" he starts and I'm glad he has the common sense to realise that if he didn't use my full title in this moment, best friend or not, he would have been attacked.

I growl and he lowers his head in submission "what" I bark. "The alphas and Lunas have just received word that, Nick, our third top warrior, is at the house with your Luna, he was trying to help a pack mate but stepped over the line. Damon and Dante have asked that you spare him, it seems as if he's trying to protect your mate in place of his twin brother, he lost him in battle months ago and it looks like he's taken on a protective stance over your mate. They apologise and have agreed to get this matter in hand tomorrow but cannot leave the wedding to do so right now".

I calm down but only for my friends sake, my mates and I have interfered with their day enough and it's unfair so I tell him "ok, apologise to them for the interruptions we've caused today and tell them that we can sort it out tomorrow" "yes sir" he says leaving the room. "Oh and Rory, nobody better barge into this room ever again, got it" I warn him. "Yes sir, my apologies" I just nod knowing we'll still be friends after this because he understands. 'Tony, stand guard but do not enter the premises' I link him. I shut the link and let my mates scent calm me down until I fall asleep. Tomorrow we can get this sorted but for now I might as well enjoy having at least one of my mates in my arms.
