Dawn breaks and the sound of birds tweeting peacefully wakes Robin. After a shower she puts on jeans and a sweat shirt, and then asses herself self in the mirror. A dark purple sweat shirt hides most of the fat on her tummy, while making her pale green eyes a vibrant color. Robin's eyes happen to be the only thing she's proud of. Unlike most people with green eyes, her skin is actually on the dark side. With a father from Ghana and a mother from America she's a mixed kid, and absolutely loves being so! Looking up she glares at her hair which is a curly mass of tangles, and puts back in a pony tail with a white soccer head band to hold down the poof.
"Robin!"
"Uh-huh?" she mumbles to her nine year old step brother.
"Are you going to go to my soccer game after school?" He asks flipping his silky blonde hair like all the hip little kids these days. And Yes, her little brother is actually counted as one of the hip happening kids. Little girls are always coming to their house asking if Greg can play, course being nine he's more into sports and video games. So it's Robin's job to send them off on their wobbly pink training bikes.
"Yeah! When have I ever missed a soccer game!?" she scoffs insulted he even had to ask.
"I dunno, Do you think Dad will watch, if we make Nationals?" he asks looking shyly at the ground.
Her hands stop halfway to her book bag as she watches her little brother instantly shrink in front of her eyes. Robin's step dad is the definition of a work-aholic. If he's not working he might as well have stopped breathing and eating all together. He most likely won't show...but who is she to break a little kid's spirit!
"Maybe...But you know I'll always be there!" she smiles while ruffling his hair.
"Really?"
"Yup."
"You promise you'll be there."
"Duh."
"Okay", he says flashing her his signature grin that sends third graders swooning.
"You're such a goof ball." she says smiling back and ruffling his hair one last time while getting her book bag.
Walking out the door she spots the tedious looking bus and for once is glad that she lives close to the school. Merging into the stream of kids in the hallway she heads to her locker. Robin gathers her books and shoves them into her book bag, she then slips into homeroom well before the bell rings. Grabbing her phone she decides not to waste time staring at the wall and downloads a couple of weight loss apps. She wastes time by flinging angry birds at glass and wood blocks till she hears the bell ring. Putting away her phone she watches as her classmates show up in homeroom little by little. Everyone automatically separates into little clicks and she just sits there playing with her fingers. It's not like no one wants to talk to Robin, it's more she never talks to anyone. She's not hated or constantly picked on like other slightly overweight people (only on certain occasions). She just doesn't talk enough for anyone to hate her. She's the girl no one hates but no one really cares for. Ten minutes pass and the bell rings dismissing them to their next class. On the way out she accidentally bumps into some one and hears a whispered 'move fatty.' But it doesn't really bug her because she believes she probably does take up too much space in the halls. Squishing her arms to closer to her sides while looking down, she shuffles to class trying to make herself as skinny as possible.
"Hey Robin!"
Is someone calling my name?, she thinks to herself.
"Robin!"
huh? she mumbles more to herself still shuffling through the hall way.
"Turn around woman!" says the voice grabbing her shoulder and turning her round to face him.
