Mple Water (Nanase Harukax reader)

Training camp -pt2- -11-

We were outside the rest house of Sukishima... After all those things happen I noticed that I was alone (in my swimsuit) with four half naked boys in a deserted island. Well maybe the boys were my closest friends so far and I saw them like that every day, plus naked muscles are my job. But that doesn't change much...
The place was creepy, by all means... and the rain and thunders didn't help t all. I was behind Makoto and Haru when we were in front the building.
"Rest house? What's a rest house?" Nagisa asked. Stupid question...
"It's a rest house." Rei said.
"Let's go inside." But...but...never mind... Nagisa started walking inside...
"Wait, we're really going inside?" Rei asked and I saw the muscles on Makoto's back tense a bit... well it's natural... we both afraid of these things the difference is that I know better to hide it. Haru must have toke the hint and he asked us if we were ok... I nodded and Makoto said that he was fine smiling... I bet it's a fake smile...
"Hey... We are not about to enter a haunted house. You know... so stop acting like a couple..." Nagisa told. Suddenly Haru sneaked behind him before he turns around.

"Did you see that shadow?" He whispers in an odd voice. I saw exactly the scene, but his voice combined with this atmosphere made my mind froze. I got purple and my eyes were covered by my hands.

"Haru..." I whisper... Nagisa was somehow laughing but not with joy. Rei was covering his face with his kickboard and Makoto had froze on his feet, covering his stomach with his left arm. Haru turned to us again "Oh, sorry." He said. "I-It's Okay." I said to him waiving with my hand in front of my face. From the corner of my eyes I saw Makoto try to smile again.
"I'll take a look inside, so you all wait here." Announced Haru but before he make his first step Makoto spoke;
"I'll come with you. It'll be fine since we're all together." He said casually, I have to admit he was right.
"I agree." I said with a low voice...(No I'm not scared! Don't look at me like that. I'm not!)
I was behind Makoto all the time...we were close to Haru... If something happed I was more than ready to get killed with no regrets. Nagisa behind us comment; "Wow, it's so dark."

"I have a feeling something's going to pop out." Rei said... At least I'm not alone...
Out of the blue Nagisa shouts from excitement...I was already scared before that, I'm telling you, I felt my soul leaving my body. My eyes were wide open, and without me controlling my hands I grabbed Makoto's arm. He was in no better condition, we both stare Nagisa and the only thing that he manage to say was a loud "What?!" Now about Haru... I honestly have nothing to say... He casually turned to meet Nagisa with his empty eyes...
"A flashlight." Nagisa answered. That was it?
"Don't scare us!" Rei told behind his kickboard.
"I believed I was goona die..." I said releasing Makoto's hand. Nagisa did nothing more than smiling to me. He gave the flashlight to Haru -as he was the brave one here- and now with the light we had, he scanned the room we were in. We stick really close to each other, and practically I couldn't see a thing in front of me coz Haru was taller than me... So I wasn't able to notice much, it was clear that there were not people there for quite some time.
"Nothing here." Haru said holding the flashlight. He started walking and we all follow him like he was our mother goose.
"Looks like this was a kitchen." I stuck behind him, with Makoto following. I stayed silent.
"Oh, then there might be food." Nagisa told us; well he indeed has a point.
"I'm starving."
"How can you be thinking about food in this saturation?"
"I couldn't agree with you more, Rei-kun..." Nagisa smiled and Rei continued; "That wasn't a compliment."
"Okay, let's look around!" Announced Nagisa. "I'll check the cabinet over here...Haru-chan and Mako-chan can check under the sink. Rei-chan gets to check the dubious-looking fridge."
"Wait! Why do I get stuck with the worst job?" Rei asked annoyed, and Nagisa's answer was;

"Because Rei is for refriger-"rei"-tor!" Well, seriously Nagisa?

"Logic...." I said sarcastically. "Anyway... Why I didn't get to do anything?"
"Because we must protect you! (Name)-chan!" Nagisa told out loud
"I- I refuse to check the fridge! I have a feeling something is going to ooze out if I open the door!" said Rei slowly staring his palm.
"Then we'll use rock, paper, scissors to decide who checks the fridge." Nagisa suggested. At least he was fare this time...
"Do we really have to open it?" Asked Rei with worried voice...
"It's the most likely place to have food."
"There is no power though." Haru told... Well I was thinking the same thing.
"But, Haru-chan! The fridge is our only hope right now!"
Well after the rock, paper, scissors Rei was going to open it anyway... So since I didn't take part in the mini-game I thought it was a good idea to help Rei opening the fridge. I wouldn't want to open it alone eather...
Me and Rei grabbed each side of the fridge, I knew that we wouldn't find something special but I was still warred. I said;
"Till three Rei-kun..." with my eyes on him. He nodded... "Okay..." I breathed out...
"One...."
"Two......"
"Three.........!"
Rei and I at the same moment opened wide the doors of the machine and....
Nothing............
Rei was truly relieved so as I, but Nagisa was disappointed.
"You must be really hungry, right?" I giggled.
After that we all freely explored the rest of the creepy room, actually Rei and I didn't do much... Hey! It was us who opened the fridge after all! We were able find something eatable... We set a table and some chares to seat properly... like it will hurt to seat on the floor...
"Put these on!" Nagisa said... and gave me an apron with a -Sukishima Rest House- logo on it...
"Why are we wearing these?" Rei told with an irritated tone...
"I couldn't find anything else... Don't complain."
"Hey, Nagisa... Just because it was the only you could find doesn't mean we have to wear it..." I complained...
"We're dry now, so it's not necessary." Makoto assure Nagisa coz he got depressed. Rei's attention got to Haru and his plate...
"Then again..." was all he manage to say...
"Pineapple... mackerel..." said Nagisa with depressed -from the food- voice.
"I think this is Haru's speciality from now on..." I smiled on my own...
"Looks like we lucked out..." Haru told... Oh my, he is dead serious...
"Uh...Can't you at least eat them separately?" Asked Rei clearly warred... and at the same time Haru placed one slice of the pineapple on the poor fish. He was preparing everyone's share. Disappointed and depressing sounds came from both Nagisa's and Rei's mouths... I had enough pineapple for today... with the pizza. But I suddenly got an idea. Now I will see if he truly has a thing for me, coz the other's tried to stop him put the fruit and the fish together...
"Haru...?" I asked lightly. He was preparing the last plate he was almost opened the can with the mackerel. He stopped what he was doing and he stared at me with empty eyes... like always...
"Well... You know...I don't really like pineapple flavor in general... it doesn't really bother me but I won't eat it if I have a choice... So please, can you not add it... in my share? I had enough pineapple for today..." His eyes widen a bit...
"As long as you eat your fish I don't have a problem..." Were his words, with a light smile, that specific smile he give me... always. It was strange coz I noticed that none of them was making a sound when I and he speaked.
"Arigato... Haru-ch- Ehm...Haru..." I said with a smile and low voice. Makoto was brave enough to break the ice... He was holding a big bottle full with water that we found.
"This water hasn't expired yet, so we can boil it and drink it."

Nagisa drink some of his hot water... after he takes a deep breath... "Pineapple mackerel and hot water..."
"You should be grateful that we found anything edible." Haru said serious and I nodded in agreement.
"True, I just have to use my imagination. This isn't water. It's rich consommé soup. The ultimate soup, glistening gold."
"Did you hurt your head? Nagisa? That could explain a lot..." Nagisa laughed lightly.
"Doesn't that just make you feel worse?" Rei asked him.
"This is the problem with people who have no imagination." He claimed...
"At least it warmed us up" said Makoto with smile...but I bet it was no real one; he looks different from the time he woke up...
"It's still raining." Said Haru looking outside, I turn to see myself. He was right. "I don't think rain will stop anytime soon..."
"I guess we'll have to stay here until morning." Rei announce. He was probably right.
"Then what to do next?" Asked Nagisa obviously exited.
"Sleep" said Haru naturally. Well I like that option quite much... I feel tired I didn't actually sleep at all. The others manage to rest their bodies for some time.
"What?! But we're stranded on a deserted island! Aren't we supposed to harpoon fish and search for edible mushrooms?" I sight... only Nagisa would thought that... and besides this is not a real deserted island...
"We're not on a TV show." Rei lectured him.
"Still, it's hard to go to sleep in this saturation." said the captain.
Everyone is thinking with their faces down...
"I think I have some king of idea..." I said with a low voice... Makoto and Haru had already their eyes on me; soon the others did the same.
"(Name)-chan!? You have an idea? What is it tell us!" Nagisa was the first to ask. Makoto followed. "Nothing comes to mind... well I guess to let a girl decide... It's wise..." After all this I had to tell them my idea...and with having no clue how they will react.
"Well... When I and other girls stayed awake all night, we usually tell stories about ourselves to each other... so I thought it would be interesting to do something similar..."
"(Name)-chan? You and your female friends didn't talk about boys?" Nagisa asked talking so fast that I was surprised that I understand what he was saying.
"Ah-! Of...Of course we talked about boys, too.... N- Now I'm too old for taking about boys Nagisa! And what that has to do with anything?"
I said crossing my hands on my chest while looking away from the anger.
"I believe (Name)-san is old enough to do whatever she pleases." I heard Rei.
"Well thank you Rei..." I said with still my face away.
"I'm really-really sorry (Name)-chan! Don't be mad at me!" Nagisa begged. I giggled a bit. "I'm not mad, Baka!" Nagisa smiled at me I turned to face the other two. "So! Back to the point! Do you want to try my idea or not?"
Haru answered first; "I'm in."
"Me too..." Makoto said with a smile.
"I guess we could..." Rei said, I bet he has some embarrassing stories to share.
"Count me on this, too." Nagisa said still with same smile on his face.
Nagisa found some stuff and made a cube out of paper, with our names on each side. When I hold it in my hands I noticed that Rei's name was twice, Nagisa is using his dirty tricks again... We all sat in a circle and Nagisa rolled the custom cube.
"Who's it goona be? Who's it goona be?" singing to himself. "Whoa! Its Rei-chan!" now he is holding the cube.
"Ano.., my name is on two of the faces."
"It's because you are Rei-chan!" Logic...
"What's that suppose to mean?" Rei told to himself.
"There is no point trying to understand it, believe me..."
"Seems like it..." He admitted. Nagisa is now back to the circle, I was between him and Haru. "Okay, Rei-chan! Tell us an embarrassing story." This should be good.
"Why does it have to be an embarrassing story? Especially in front of (Name)-chan..."
"She is one of us you don't have to mind her." Haru said in a more serious from his usual tone. My eyes was on him...well its normal to be hard for a guy to admit an embarrassing story for him in front of a female... but why does Haru speak for me? "Well... I can talk for myself Haru, thank you. So Rei, don't mind me! You can speak freely we all want to get to know you better."Haru sent me a extra-extra cold glare. But I didn't let it get me down.
"Go ahead! Rei-chan!" Nagisa said exited. Rei sighed, and begun his story.
"This happened when I was in fifth grade. I was on a school field trip..." He told us that he couldn't find his underwear inside his bag, when a teacher came out of nowhere asking; "Someone left this in the bath! Whose is it?" He was holding Rei's underwear, inside a plastic bag. Everyone started whispering and some of the kids laugh... Well this was really-really awkward.
"Oh, It was your underwear." Nagisa said.
"Don't rub it in..." Rei told with his right hand covering his eyes. Captain decided to take action; "Rei, uh..." Or that was what I thought he would do...
"Don't worry. If you leave your underwear in the locker room, I'll grab it for you." Nagisa assured him, placing one hand to Rei's left shoulder.
"I won't!" Rei shouted.
"Well... It's Haru's turn!" Nagisa informed us after he rolled again the custom dice. Rei was relieved it wasn't him again. And Nagisa continued;
"Tell us about a romantic encounter you've had. Or a short love story." I suddenly became red from the embarrassment; I sent him one warning glare, which I'm not so sure that he got its meaning. Makoto had his curious olive eyes on him. Rei went to Makoto and asked; "Haruka-senpai's been in love before?" Moooo! Nagisa must have asked him something like that intentionally. Makoto's answer was that he has no idea sending me quick glare. Haru had casually stand up, ready to speak. We were all curious for his words.
"When I was in grade school, my parents took me to climb a mountain nearby. That was where I had my fateful encounter." I have to find out what is going on here... Haru moved on... "I couldn't look away. That intensely beautiful, positively vibrant, sparking and pristine...waterfall."
"Waterfall?" We all say as one.
"That doesn't count as a love story, Haru-chan." Nagisa said in disappointment. I couldn't believe that Haru would speak about the waterfall he used to talk to me. I knew that story but I didn't saw how important was to him. Actually I'm happy that I lost to water and not some other girl. Haru after sharing his story he had a dreamy look on his face with eyes closed.
Finally he came back next to me and I had to tell them a story now. Coz Nagisa insisted that I will be the next one. He asked me to tell them about how I met Makoto... Yeah... I have never been asked to tell something like that so......
"To be honest I don't really remember how we actually met (Name), and it is awkward to ask something like that... after all this time." Makoto said without looking at me.
"I'm not sure exactly myself if what I remember is the true thing but I will tell you anyways..." The other three got silent... I closed my eyes and breathed in.
"I think I was on the first grade of elementary school, it was only me and my mother inside my house, in the middle of winter, my dad was on a trip or something... And suddenly the doorbell rang, my mum went to open the front door, and I heard her voice like...; "Oh god! Where have you been?! I haven't seen you for a long time!... Oh! I can't believe it! He is so cute and small!... Come - come inside, before you catch a cold!... (Name)-chan! Look there is someone I want you to meet..." Well she introduced me to Makoto... Back then I didn't enjoy younger children's company coz they usually where noisy but he was the calm type... After some time we accidentally met to the park and saw him again..." I smiled to myself. "Well Makoto, you can ask your mother if this is true, sorry that I don't remember more..."
"I will..." He said shyly... "Okay! I'm up next!" Nagisa announced loudly as always. "I've got a performance for you." As Nagisa was speaking, I went to my seat again between Haru and Makoto. I noticed that other's attention was on Nagisa and the look of their faces was... indescribable. When I take a look at him I couldn't speak or do a thing. He was acting as a penguin (?)... I stayed silent with a smirk on my face...
"What are you doing?" Haru made a strange face. Nagisa faced him without ruin his act. "You can't tell? That was a rockhopper penguin imitation."
"It was?" Haru asked for a second time.
"I couldn't tell." Rei told.
"Wh- What?!" Nagisa asked in shock. "Why couldn't you tell?! Just look at this!" he said and started his act again... Makoto giggled while smiling and I burst out laughing of the situation of some seconds.
"Ah, Mako-chan!?" Nagisa gave him a smile "You finally smiling." Makoto was serious again. "Huh?" "That's good, you seemed a little subdued." He smiled again a bit. "Sorry for making you worry." After his words, I sent a glare to Haru; he was looking at Makoto... Suddenly Rei started talking...This shouldn't be good...I sent a warning glare at him but he didn't response...
"Uh... I've been wondering... When you tried to save me, you were acting strangely."
"I think is better not to discuss it." I said quickly. Haru sent me a fast glare in agreement, Makoto looked like lost to me, I hoped that Rei wouldn't take it further but I was wrong.
"But..."
"She already told you, just drop it!" Haru raised his voice; I couldn't even remember when it was the last time he looked pissed. There was silence in this huge room. My eyes were on my hands. Makoto's eyes went to him; he had a soft smile -as always-.
"Thank you guys..." He looked at my direction for some time. "It's okay..." He said with a warm smile... "This is something I want to tell them." His voice was calm and soft...
"I suddenly felt scared." My eyes on my hands again... Rei and Nagisa repeated slowly "scared...?" Nagisa asked "Scared of what?"
Makoto's eyes were empty... his expression was... the only word that I can describe it is relaxed and pure... honest...
"I'm scared of the ocean." He finally said. As he was telling the story... I was thinking his face when he had his eyes on the sea...especially when it's raining... There is no hate...no rage in his eyes...only fear...pure fear... That's why I couldn't let him alone in this camp... of course he had the others...he has Haru on his side... I wasn't there all time that he may needed me; I feel really bad for leaving, but he had Haru instead.
"....It feels like there's something unknown hiding in the water."
"That's enough, Makoto..." Haru said calmly. I tried not to look warred anymore.
"But you still tried to save me." Silence everywhere...
"Can I ask you something.... If you're scared of the ocean, why did you
participate in this training camp?" Well this is what I couldn't understand,
but Makoto made sure to give me the answer, and make speechless us all.
"Because... I wanted to swim with you guys..." He was smiling again... like he used to... As for the four of us... we were staring at him without a word. And he continued...
"When the four of us swim together, I feel like we can go anywhere..." We all stayed silent the others were surprised... But, as I was happy, I felt a little miserable. They are perfect together... I'm just an outsider. I feel like I will never make it to fit in with them, I came here after all this time and I think that they are still my best friends again? How is this even possible? No, If they hated me, or feel nothing for me anymore I would understand it... . Nagisa stopped my thoughts...
"The rain stopped." It was true, we all went outside Nagisa was ahead of us...
"Wow! It's gorgeous!" He was talking about the sky... I was by Haru's side.
"The sky is nice and clear... That's the summer triangle....." Rei started pointing some stars... but my attention was on my thoughts. Some of the others talked as well, but I felt that I wasn't there...someone of them said;
"Look at this." I turned to see what was going on... I saw the place we were standing... The whole sky was mirrored on the ground. Haru touched my hand lightly and a fade smile formed on my face...
The view was stunning... the night was clear and beautiful, but Haru's hand was enough to wake me up from my thoughts....

The sun was visible in the horizon when we run throe the beach, the five of us were staring the other side, I could clearly see their tends.
"It's not that far away." Nagisa was right.
"If we wave, Amakata-sensei or Gou-san might spot us."
"They will probably still sleeping..." said Haru.
"Hopefully, they notice we're missing when they wake up and send a boat." Nagisa proposed... Makoto seemed skeptical... then he told;
"I'll swim over and let them know." Ha-ha! He really said it!
"Don't be stupid!" Haru said in serious voice. And Rei agreed.
"But the ocean is so calm right now."
"Oi! Makoto! I thought you would never say something like that!" I went behind him and lead him in the water with a bright smile... He couldn't say a thing he just let himself in my hands... "I think I'm goona die if I swim that far without a single hour of sleep since yesterday, but I will do it anyway!" He and I were almost half under the surface when I turned around to see the others.
"Come on! Haru-chan! Don't tell me you will stand there all day waiting a boat!" The empty eyes again...
"Okay! Wait for me!" Nagisa said out laud as always.
"I will come too..." Rei said serious holding his kickboard.
I sent a smile on Haru. He didn't react but I knew he was happy that his friend would swim with him in the ocean.
"Well! Let's see who can get there first" It was Makoto's idea.
"It's a race!"
"Fine with me."
"Hurry up, Haru-chan!" He finally went in... we kept swimming and swimming... I thought that I gain energy from the ocean but the thing that actually made it until the end was incredible. I practically don't remember much from the rest of that day. I was told that all of us were sleeping most of the time and I only wake up to eat and then I fall asleep again...(-reader-chan love sleeping very much-)
