Vivian's P.O.V
Waking up the next day was a nightmare. I didn't want to, I just wanted to continue sleeping and dreaming of the quiet forest and all the beautiful things inside. But here I am, staring at my pearly white bedroom ceiling still wrapped up in my massive blanket.
Good morning Vivi!
Good morning Vi. I don't want to get out of bed.
That's okay, it's only eight, you can stay in bed for a bit longer.
What a beautiful feeling... But something is off.
What? There is nothing happening. What could be off?
That's just it. There's nothing. It's already eight, and I've been awake for a while. Where is the argument? Where is the indestructible salad bowl being thrown? It's quiet.... TOO quiet.
Vivi, that's not a bad thing. It's a good thing that they aren't fighting!
No... Something's up. I know it. And I'm gonna find out what it is before it come to haunt me later.
Hoping out of bed, I rush over to my door and put my ear up against it. Nothing. I open the door and perk up my ears.
Okay, you're being ridiculous Vivi.
I sneak over to the stair case and hear nothing, so I make my way down, stopping every two steps to listen again for voices.
You. Are. Crazy. What are you hoping to accomplish here?
SHHHHH!
"school?... we could... but then... but that's not the problem--"
"I think... maybe, good idea..."
I can't hear them, ugh! What are they talking about?
"I'll go wake her," I hear Mom say. Crap
Launching myself up the stairs as quietly and quickly as possible, I make it back to my room. I jump into my bed and turn my back to the door. Mom walks in a minute later. "Uhhhhh, mooooommmmm!" Yawning dramatically, I sit up and rub my eyes. Thank you Mike, your acting skills make a good lesson. "Good morning!"
"Good morning sweetheart!" She takes a seat on my bed and reaches out to take my hand in both of hers. Okayyyyyyy.... "Baby, I've got something-- well, actually your father also wants to talk to you about this, but I'll give you a heads up, okay?"
Narrowing my eyes, I agree cautiously.
"Okay. Well, your father and I are worried that you are a bit lonely. We know that our jobs keep us away from you for all of the day, and after--" Oh boy, here come the tears, she's think of Andrew again. Amazingly, she keeps the tears at bay and continues, "anyway, we think there is a way that you can connect with other people your age here in town! Isn't that exciting!"
"Depends on what it is."
"Ah. Well, it's school! Real school; a high school!"
I look her up and down deciding without a doubt that she is definitely out of her mind. "Uh. Mom. I've already been accepted into college. It's the same one that Mike goes to. I'm done with high school."
"You are only done because you are so smart and you finished all of your work early, but there are actually a couple months left of your senior year. We think you should go to the actual high school and make some friends and you can see if anyone else will be going to college with you! It will be fun!"
