Downstairs Darren and Mike make me food... That they end up eating themselves because I can't handle it. My stomach turns just at the thought of eating. So I sip my tall glass of water and and take a little nibble here and there so that they are satisfied. The water was great; heavenly, even. But the food was just not being accepted by my stomach. I wish they'd made crab cakes, I wouldn't mind eating some of those. Mmmmmm, I love crab cakes. Yummy.
They try to talk to me too. It's uber weird; I just want them to leave so I can go to Aiden! "So, how's school going, Vivian?" Whoop. There it is; the question. I was wondering when it would make its appearance.
"Fine," I answer.
"Ready for college?"
"Yep."
"Scared?"
"Not really." And queue another bite of vegetables.
Darren decides to speak up. "College really isn't that bad," he says, "it's actually kinda fun!" Then why do you sound so awkward saying that? I just nod in reply. "So... have you... figured out where you're going for college?" Don't force yourself, I know I'm not fun to talk to.
"Yeah."
"Good. Good. Um... so... where?" Mike bursts out laughing at that. I don't find anything funny. The whole ordeal is just extremely annoying. Will they please just leave?!
"I got a full ride to Redwell Academy." It was the college most kids from our town go to, simply because it is close to home, a bit off the outskirts of town. Too bad we didn't have our own college; apparently our community is too small for that. I wish we had our own college. Then I wouldn't have to go so far away from Aiden...
"HEY!" Mike exclaims suddenly, "WE GO THERE!" He grins at me wildly. Oh goodness, no. What have I done? "Oh mai gawd! We can totally, like, hang out, like, totally, like, all the time!" What in the world? Is he possessed?
"Don't be a freak, Mike," Darren comes to my rescues and explains to me, "he's always switching personalities for laughs. Don't mind him, he's just desperate."
"DESPERATE?! How dare you sir?!" Oh, he's switched to a terrible Englishman personality. It makes more sense now that Darren explained. "I'll have you know I wish for nothing as I already have anything and everything a man could ever wish for!" He jumps up out of his chair and waltzes around the table to mine. He takes my hand in his and dramatically falls to his knees, putting my hand against his cheek. "For example, I have the admiration of the lovely young lass, here, don't I?" He looks up to me and purses his lips, "do you like me, Lady Vivian?"
"Well, yes." What the heck, doesn't he already know that? What's the point of all this ridiculousness?
"OH! OH, HOW YOU'VE MADE ME SO VERY JOYFUL! Please, do me the honor of dancing with me!" Without waiting my reply, which was going to be negative, he tugs me out of my chair and I know what's coming next. Andrew did it to me all the time. I try to run away but I'm too late; Mike grabs my waist and hoists me into the air, all while spinning quickly in circles. And being his usual self, he sings, "Laaaa, la dee daaaa, la la la, laaaa, la la!"
On the way up a scream escapes me. I hate this! Why do there always do this to me?! Placing my hands over my eyes, I can't help the giggle that bubbles up my throat as Mike spins me once more before letting me down. "Mike, you freak! You know I hate that!" I back away from him, slightly dizzy.
