"Percy Jackson. Maximum Ride. We need to talk."
I watched the two as they narrowed their eyes and shifted into attacking positions. The Avengers did the same, although of concern crossed their faces. I called them off, and the kids seemed to relax, but were obviously still ready to fight their way out if they had to. I stepped forward.
"Percy. Max. Can I call you Max?"
"No."
Well, Max, I am very curious about you. You have multiple files in the U.S. database, but they all seem scattered... Like you just dropped off the face of the earth."
"Well, that is a very stupid analogy. If anything, the only way a person can actually drop off of the earth is upwards, so your argument is totally freaking invalid. In other nonrelated news, who are you? And why are we here? I'm kind of on a schedule."
"About that schedule. Does it have anything to do with that black hole that sucked up those civilians the other day?" I had obviously struck a nerve, seeing as Max shuddered and sank to the ground, tears rolling down her face. Percy had a sour expression that looked like he'd been punched in the gut. He spoke up.
"Sorry to rain on your parade, but I'm pretty sure Max and I have better things to than watch you try to emotionally wound us. So we're leaving." He took a step forward and a rumble came from the sink in the kitchen. I turned as a huge wave of water flooded the room. All the doors where closed, so there was nothing to keep the water from rising rapidly. Through the torrent, Percy walked over to Max with surprising ease and helped her up. She hopped on his back just as the water reached the celing. I saw the Avengers scrambling for the door to the balcony. There was a click and the door swung open. A pulse of water streamed by and Percy and Max stood on the balcony, totally dry. There was a lot of gasping and coughing from the Avengers, but Percy grinned and the two of them stood up on the balcony ledge.
"Well, this has been fun, but like I said, we have better things to do." Max gripped Percy around the waist and they fell over the edge. The team ran over to the edge just in time to see the pair soar up in a flurry of golden feathers and soar off into the sunset.
The Avengers stared at me expectantly, as if asking me to explain what just happened.
"Obviously these two are a lot more dangerous that we-" I stopped and corrected myself, letting out a cough, "than I orignally imagined. Natasha, I want you to follow them. Stay where they can't see you, and try to figure out who the hell they are. Tony, I want you to look up any files you can on these guys. We need to know what we're up against. I want the rest of you patrolling for any more threats. There is bound to be another inccident, and I want to be prepared to fight it when it comes. Dismissed." And with that, the Avengers were off.
