"The first day of class and already I am late." I furrowed my brows hard as I slammed my car door. I didn't want to seem like a horrible professor, but if I'm being honest the kids might see this as a cool or nice thing. I don't know why I was talking about them as if I was thirty, I am 25 and barely old enough to consider them kids. I got into my classroom to see multiple people talking and ad sitting on their desk. A couple was making out off to the side and then there were kids throwing paper balls.

As I walked through them, I felt their eyes staring at me and once I got to my desk and set my things down, I looked up and everyone was sitting down. I didn't even speak and they just acted like...respectful people.

"Uh, Hellow. Sorry, I am late. I will be your new Professor. I don't know you guys that very well but I hope we have a good start of the rest of the semester. You can call me Damien, or Mr. Walker. I don't care." I set my books down and I hear some murmurs before looking up to see someone slipping into the classroom.

"Ahem. Excuse me?" I saw the figure stop in their tracks and once I did I regretted calling them out.

"Oh, hi. Hello. Sorry, I'm late I was uh...." Her voice trailed and I couldn't help but just give her a once over. She wore a checkered black and white pantsuit that had off the shoulder sleeves. She had large hoop earrings and her lipgloss shined from across the room.

"It's fine. I was just beginning." I brushed the feeling off and I turned around and began to write on the board. The start of the class went smoothly. I didn't talk about myself, I hated whenever a teacher did that. I just went into the lesson and it seemed like everyone was paying attention, but I couldn't help but feel like they were having conversations with each other. I didn't care as long as they were writing notes. I always believed that a test should always be opened noted. A test isn't to test your memory of what you learned but your ability to take notes and learn from them. So as long as they took the notes then they were good.

"And that concludes the lesson for today. Now I didn't expect to finish the class so quickly so if you have any questions feel free to ask."I clasped my hands together and someone raised their hand.

"Yes?"

"So what made you come to his part of little ol' Nebraska?" I stared at her for a moment and tried to find an answer.

"Nothing. Threw a pin at the wall and it landed here." I did a half-smile and she nodded, she wasn't convinced. I checked the time and sat down.

"Released" I stated and picked up some papers and they all piled out of the roo. I wasn't paying attention to them when they exited, but I heard a throat clear in front of me and I glanced up.

"Oh. Charlotte..." I set my papers down and straightened my back. I raised my eyes as she didn't speak.

"Are you? Okay?" I waved my hand and stood up. I couldn't make eye contact with her, so I stared at the two poof balls on top of her head. I never knew hair could form so big and look so nice at the same time.

"Dinner." The words escaped her mouth and I raised a brow.

"Dinner?" She couldn't be possibly asking me for dinner?

"Dinner..." She said softly but then she stiffened up.

"Dinner with me. " I blinked a couple of time and I tilted mine had. I clenched my jaw. She just asked me out to dinner. As a date.

"Well...my mom wants you to come to our house to have dinner with me...and her...and my dad." A breath of air left my chest. I didn't know if it was f relief or disappointment.
