I looked around franticly trying to put the pieces together. I looked at the body that was lying hopelessly on the floor.
My heart pounded against my chest.
Where is Maggie?
How could she jump and not be the one lying on the floor close to death?
I saw people crowding around the girls body, maybe I should take another look.
I pushed threw everyone, but got pushed back as paramedics arrived.
“I’m sorry young man, but you are not allowed past here.”
I felt a tear tricker down my cheek.
“I need to see who she is, please, I just need to see who she is.”
The man must have gotten my message because he led me threw the crowds of paramedics till I came to the body.
There, my body went cold, numb lifeless.
It still wasn’t Maggie.
“Young man, do you know this girl?”
I shook my head and dropped to the ground.
She’s disappeared. She’s jumped but never came down.
“She’s gone, she’s jumped but never came down.”
I got up from the ground and walked away, walked away from any possible chances of finding Maggie.
“Excuse me young man?”
I stopped in my tracks and turned around.
“Ride in the ambulance, and we will see if she has already been transmitted.”
Was that the only hope? Was she already in hospital?
I ignored any thought and followed the officer into the ambulance.
Paramedics were crowding the girl that I hoped was Maggie. But sadly was mistaken.
It felt forever for the ride to end. But when it did, I rushed out of the doors and went to the entrance.
I got to the front desk and looked for someone’s attention.
“Excuse me? Hello.”
I turned around and looked around the emergency room, it was empty.
“Oh, hello. How can I help you?”
“Yeah um, can you tell me that a young girl with blonde hair, pale skin has been transmitted into hospital? She jumped from a building but never came down.”
My hands started shaking and my chest tightened knowing I’m going to be hearing bad news.
“I’m terribly sorry, but we haven’t had any reports of that kind, but we do have a couple of patients coming in soon, there on there way, I don’t know what kind of report they are. I will keep you updated. Have a seat I’ll get you a blanket.”
The woman disappeared then came back with a thick blanket and draped it over my shoulders.
I wrapped it around me and sat on the chair. I will wait here until she comes through those doors
Hours went by and nothing, no news, no emergencies. Nothing.
I got up from my seat and started walking around. The lady at the desk kept showing me sympathy that I didn’t want. All that I want is for Maggie to come through them doors, and still be able to live.
