Chapter 12 - Alex

We are playing a hometown show in Baltimore. I wrote a new song that we might perform tonight and I'm really excited about it. It's called "Dear Maria, Count Me In". It's obviously about Maria. Not in a lovey-dovey way. More of a joke kinda way. It was about six o' clock and Vinny and Flyzik both disappeared somewhere. They said they had to go "pick up" someone. I don't know who. I think Flyzik's sister or something. Speaking of Flyzik and Vinny, they both came rushing in the dressing room doors out of breath.

"Sorry, we had to pick up someone," Vinny explained. "Are you guys ready?"

We all nodded. We all got in a huddle and said a prayer. After that, the guys and I all walked off toward the stage. I could clearly hear all the kids chanting "All Time Low". That brought a smile to my face. Never in a million years that I thought anyone would be shouting our band name. We've worked hard to get where we are today and it's actually here. We all started playing our instruments and the kids screamed louder. We all walked out, everyone taking their places on the stage. We played Break Out, Break Out first followed by other songs on our EP and debut album. I swear I saw Marie's frizzy hair in the crowd. I shook my head. No, that's not here. She's in a much better place now. Just before our last song, I spoke to the crowd,

"We have two more songs we're going to play for you tonight. And one of them is a new one that we've never played before."

The crowd cheered.

"Is it cool if we play it for you right now?"

More cheers.

"Cool, it's called "Dear Maria, Count Me In".

We played the music and I saw kids mosh pitting and crowd surfing. A smile was on my face at all times through out the song. When we finished the whole crowd clapped and cheered. They all started chanting, "More! More! More!"

I laughed. "Okay, we'll play one more song after this one."

We played Circles and the crowd was even more crazy. Baltimore, Maryland is the best city in the world. In my opinion though. We finished that song and the guys walked off, leaving me with just myself and a guitar.

"This last song I'm going to play for you guys is about a girl that I fell in love with. I fell so hard for her that I even thought of marrying her. But I kinda knew that would never happen," I paused. "This is called Remembering Sunday."

I started strumming my guitar, singing into the microphone. I searched through the audience and everyone was waving their hands in the air or their lit matches up in the air, waving them as well. I made eye contact with every person in the room. Each individual person in the room has a story and it shows clearly in their eyes. I contacted eye contact with a girl. Her eyes were green. Her story was very similar to mine. We both had our heart broken. We both feel broken and lost. But one thing was different in her eyes then in mine. She felt sorry for something that she did. She felt like she ruined everything in her life because of that one mistake. And hopefully the person takes her back. I didn't feel that at all. My eyes traveled away from her eyes and to her appearance. She wore dark blue jeans and scruffy converse along with a loose fitting tshirt. Her hair was a different story. The green eyed girl had the exact hair like Marie. Frizzy and out of place.

When I reached to the the second chorus of the song, I searched through her eyes once again. The same emotion ran through them. Her lips slowly turned upwards in a small smile. I knew that smile anywhere. It was Marie's smile. Wait, if that girl had the same smile as Marie then it would mean something.

That is Marie.

I finished the song with all sense of Marie running through my head. I quickly shuffled backstage panting in breath.
