Chapter 4 - Alex

"So you're really going to surprise Marie while we're in Boston?" Jack asked, tuning his guitar. Sorry, trying to tune his guitar. The kid can barely play the thing. Danny came over and tried tuning his guitar which was making it worse because even Danny couldn't tune the guitar. "Fuck it," Jack said. "I'll just play it untuned." I laughed.

"But yeah, I will surprise Marie while we're in Boston," I said, strapping the guitar around myself. "Do you think she'll be surprised?"

"Dude, of course she'll be surprised. She'll be thrilled."

I smiled at Jack. These are the moments where I'm glad Jack and I are best friends. Even though we're both clueless dicks at times, we're close.

"You guys ready?" Flyzik asked.

"Yeah," Jack responded. Rian and Zack came around and we all huddled into a circle. We all prayed silently to ourselves. We heard the fans screaming louder than they ever have.

"Let's ready to play a show," I said. We all walked out on stage, instruments in place. Jack started playing the Coffee Shop Soundtrack intro as I followed in.

"Should I write myself out of the history books and mark a place in time for every chance you took?" I sang. "Don't get me wrong, I know you've got yourself in place. I've yet to take the hint, someday I'm sure I'll get the picture and stop waiting up.

When it all comes down to the sunrise on the East Side, will you be there to carry home the remains of my wasted youth? This wasted time on you has left me shaking and waiting, shaking and waiting for something more."

We played more songs off of Put Up or Shut Up. Along with songs from The Party Scene. Being on stage in front of hundreds of unknown people whom are your fans, it's insane. Starting this band I never thought this would happen. It just started off as a hobby and eventually turned out to be something big. People were singing along to every song we've played and I've never been happier. Wish everyone could experience this masterpiece. I can't wait to til Marie about this. It started nearing the end of the show and it was time for me to go out of play an acoustic song.

"This song I'm going to be playing for you guys," I spoke out into the crowded auidence. "Is a very personal song and I don't think we've ever played this song before. And I would like to play it live for you guys. Is that alright?"

Screams came from all over the small venue. I smiled.

"This song is called," I took a deep breath before continuing, "Lullabies."

I started strumming my guitar as everyone got out their cell phone and lighter.

"Make it a sweet, sweet goodbye - it could be for the last and it's not right. 'Don't let yourself get in over your head,' he said. Alone and far from home I'll find you...

Dead - like a candle your burned out; spill the wax over the spaces left in place of angry words. Scream - to be heard, like you needed any more attention; throw the bottle, break the door, and disappear."

I looked to the kids in the front. They were all smiling and softly singing along. I smiled to them in return and continued singing.

"Sing me to sleep, I'll see you in my dreams, waiting to say, 'I miss you. I'm so sorry.'"

I looked around the tiny venue. It was lit up with everyone's cell phones and lighters in the air, swaying back and forth. It brought a huge smile on my face as everyone sang along. This was an absolute dream that I wouldn't wake up to. As I was about to start the second chorus, I saw something in the back of the crowd. Well I saw someone. My eyes focused on the figure. It's back was turned to me. It looked like it was wearing all black and had slight dark brown hair. I froze. I knew exactly who it was. I stopped singing and playing and just stared straight forward. The whole venue got silent. I continued to stare straight ahead. Suddenly the figure, turned it's face to me. I stopped breathing. A sly smile appeared on his lips. I gasped. He slowly turned away and disappeared into the air.
