Chapter 11

Chapter 11 - Marie

I didn't say anything for the rest of the ride to prison. We drove all the way to Maryland. Hunter had to go to Pittsburgh since that's where he's from. I couldn't believe I was going here, again. I swear, if my mom finds out, she'll kill me. I feel like I let her down now. I promised her I won't ever go to jail again. And I failed. I noticed that I was going to As soon as we got there, they walked me up to receptionist desk. 

"We're here to lock in Marie Chambers," Officer Peter said. They threw me a orange jump suit. They also handed Peter a key. They pushed me towards the bathroom so I could change into the stupid jump suit. I couldn't help but feel my eyes water. This isn't happening. When I cane out, the took my clothes and shoved me in a cell. They looked the doors behind me. 

My jail cell was like the ones you see in the movies. A uncomfortable looking bed, a desk and a chair. There wasn't even a toilet. 

"Dinner will be served soon," Peter said and walked off. Well this is a dream come true. Note the sarcasm. I sighed and sat on the bed. I buried my face in my hands. I just let it out. I cried. Quietly of course. I didn't want anyone to hear me. It seemed like hours that I was crying until I heard someone say my name.

"Marie?"

I looked up to find Jasey, sitting in the cell next to me. I was surprised to find her here. I totally forgot she got sent to jail right before graduation. 

"Jasey," I said. "What are you doing here?"

She narrowed her eyes at me. "Oh, you know why I'm here. You're the one who sent me here in the first place."

I stayed silent.

"But anyway," she continued looking at her nails, "What are you doing here? Last time I remember you and Alex were together."

"We sorta broke up," I said. I honestly didn't know if Alex and I broke up. I didn't say we were breaking up. I remember finding Alex admitting that he slept with Lisa and I just stormed off. So I'm guessing we broke up. I don't know. 

"Oh, you did? That's too bad," Jasey said. "But why are you here?"

"It's a long story," I said looking down at my hands.

"I have time," I heard Jasey say. "Tell me."

I sighed. "It all started when I arrived at Harvard University in Boston. I met this teacher named, Mr. David. You know I thought he was like every normal teacher. Bossy, mean and boring. But he was different. First off he was young. Like in his mid-20's. I don't know what I saw in him at first. We went to the assembly the first day of school. During the middle of the principal's speech, Mr. David whispered to me to come with him. I was confused but I went with him anyway. We ended up making out at the side of the building," I said. Jasey raised her eyebrows. "Long story short, we ended up seeing each other a lot and one night we ended up almost having sex. The police found out and now I'm here."

Jasey laughed. "Are you serious?! You cheated on Alex with a teacher? Wow, Chambers. I never knew you were such a bad ass."

I shrugged. "I don't know why I did it anyway. How long have you've been here?" 

Jasey sighed. "Five months. Almost six."

I raised my eyebrows. "Wow." 

"It's actually not bad here. Minus the awful food. It's not bad." 

"What's it like?"

"Well, you have to go to bed around nine. Then we have to get up at six in the morning to do community service. That ends at nine. After that, we have breakfast. Then we just sit for the whole entire day, really."

"How is that fun?"

Jasey seemed lost in thought for a minute. "I have no idea." 

I buried my face in my hands. "I wish I never cheated on Alex with that slutty teacher. My biggest mistake ever."

"How did you guys even break up?" 

"He slept with Lisa."

"You serious?"

I nodded. 

"Wow, dude. You two must really got bored with each other."

"No, he's just on tour. Lisa somehow tagged along and seduced Alex."

"You two have the most insane relationship ever." 

I smiled. "I know. And that's what I most like about it."

Jasey smiled also. "You still love him." 

"Who?" I asked. Jasey rolled her eyes.

"Alex butthead."

"How do you know?"

Jasey was quiet for a minute. "The look in your eyes. The same look Alex gave me when he was talking about what thought of you Remember that?" 

"Yeah," I softly smiled. 

"Even thought he kept listing things off about you, I knew he liked you a lot."

I laughed. "I miss high school."

"Me too."

Suddenly, my jail cell door, opened up. It was Peter. He was holding my clothes in his hands. 

"Chambers, someone's here to bail you out," Peter said. I instantly felt hope in my heart. Peter threw my clothes at me. I ran into the bathroom with excitement. I wonder who would bail me out. Nobody crossed my mind as I got out of the bathroom. Peter gripped my shoulder and guided towards the lobby. My heart was beating so fast in my chest right now, I thought it was going to burst out of my chest and splatter all over the floor. Peter opened the lobby doors. I furrowed my eyebrows.

Vinny. Vinny was the one who bailed me out. He gave me a small smile and paid the lady at the front desk. Peter pushed me towards Vinny. I embraced my arms around him and he hugged me back. 

"Thank you," I whispered. 

"You're welcome," he whispered back. We walked out of the prison to the coldness outside. There was light snow on the ground, making it a little slippery. I noticed the familiar white van in front of me. Vinny probably noticed me wince because he said, "Don't worry, Alex isn't here. Only Flyzik and I."

I nodded. I slipped into the van, after Vinny. Flyzik was driving and Vinny was in the passagneger's seat. I sat behind them, looking out into the windshield. We drove away from the prison and onto the highway. The van was silent. 

"How did you guys find out?" I eventually asked since I hate silence between people. 

"It was on the news," Flyzik answered. 

"Who saw it?"

"Everyone," Vinny said. Everyone basically meant Alex. 

"And how did they react?" I asked. I was scared of how Alex might react. A million little thoughts clouded my brain and before I knew it, Vinny answered, 

"He loves you still."
