****Steve's P.O.V****

"Gen?" I asked as she passed out in my arms.

"We need to go," Tony said.

"What?" I asked standing up with Gen in my arms.

Tony sighed, "Well Sage here has caused quite a mess."

Sage shrugged and giggled, "Oops."

"And," he continued, "Gen's vitals are dropping."

"Right," I said snapping into action, "How do we get out of here?"

"This way," Nat said leading us through a different door then we had come through. Once outside Tony took Gen from me. He told me that he would be able to get her to a hospital faster and that I should go get my kids. I walked into the tower to find Zeke and Zoey already waiting for me. We drove to the hospital, when we got there Tony was out of his suit.

"I'm sorry Steve," his voice cracked, "There's nothing they can do."

"Where is she?" I asked.

He pointed to a room. I ran in as the machine let out one long beep. Oh God no. Nurses and doctors came running in; someone pulled me out of the room. I didn't care anymore, my wife was dying.

"Dad?" Zeke's voice pulled me out of my thoughts.

I opened my arms and both of the kids ran into my arms. I could feel their tears soaking my shirt. I looked up and saw Bucky's face dropped. We locked gazes, his face went from sorrow to fear. He slowly started backing out of the hallway. I ushered the kids over to their grandfather, who pulled them close.

"Bucky?" I called after him.

Bucky stopped and mumbled something. I made him look at me.

"What's going on?" I asked him.

"I'm sorry," he whispered, "I should have helped save her."

I gave him a weak smile, "It's not your fault, if anything its mine."

He gaped at me, "How can you say that?"

I sighed, "I let her go with him. I let her... I could have fought hard..." I broke off finally breaking down over the loss of my wife. Bucky pulled me into a hug but didn't say anything.

***one week later***

We had buried Gen a few days ago. I walked into the kitchen to find Zoey making something.

"That's not how you make a salad," Bucky said.

Zoey shot him a glare, "Shut up. I'm an orphan. I'll make a salad how I please."

I frowned she wasn't an orphan. She had me.

Bucky snorted, "So am I but you don't see me making a salad incorrectly. C'mon you, me, and Zeke are going to go do orphan things together."

"They aren't orphans," I growled throwing my hand out and knocking a glass off the counter, "Dude, I full-on Swayze'd that mother."

"When did you learn about Swayze?" Gen asked popping in beside me.

I jumped, "What the hell?"

"What?" she asked, "Is there something on my face?"

"You're dead," I stated.

She shrugged, "Aren't we all?"

"I don't underst-," I was cut off by Tony walking into the room.
