Eddard Stark!
Alec POV
Death is the word I'd use to describe our surroundings. That is exactly what it smelled like. The clouds were dark. In those mundane movies, Clary made us watch them, the sky always seemed to blacken just as the heros were going into battle. I never noticed that's how real life turned out to be. I looked over to the people on both sides of me, my family.
If I died while trying to rescue my dad I would be surrounded by those I loved and who loved me back. That seemed like a good way to die to me. Jace had been walking around making sure everyone was here.
"Everyone is accounted for. Let's go." With those words we moved toward the building in front of us. I had no idea where we were really. I had passed on the information about this location to Clary, but I still hadn't a clue where we were. We could be on the other side of the world for all I knew.
I felt a hand entwine with mine and immediately looked over at Magnus. He smiled at me and I, somehow, returned that smile wholeheartedly. Our moment was broken when the whole group came to halt. Jace was in the front, holding his hand out while he checked to see if the entrance was clear.
I know what you're thinking, they expect the main entrance. Well they're not expecting us so maybe this will go smoothly. Maybe. Hopefully.
After he deemed the coast to be clear we moved in, not too close to each other but not too far away either, weapons at the ready. It was pitch black inside. I grabbed a witch light out of my pocket and shined it. The others did the same and we ended up having a decent flashlight. We walked further into the room and I soon realized we were in a lobby. So this was a hotel. The bad guys always choose the most random of places to do what they do.
The room was pretty big, so Jace turned towards us and said, "Okay so we should split up into groups of four. Alec, Magnus, Si-"
Suddenly the room was illuminated with actual light. Then there was the laughter. Looking up we saw a man at the top of the stairs. He had shoulder length hair and a long cloak hanging off his shoulders. He had the biggest sword I'd ever seen.
"I've been waiting for you." he said. His voice sent chills down my spine.
We all immediately moved into a fighting stance, "All I want is my father. No one has to die." I said trying to reason with him. One of the shadowhunters sent by The Clave scoffed before stepping forward, shackles laced with runes in his hands.
"By order of The Clave you are un-" He never got to finish. Within seconds the sword was sent flying through the air and went straight through his chest, nailing his heart to the wall. Blood squirted out of the gigantic hole the sword left.
Then we were surrounded. Demons, downworlders, and shadowhunters were everywhere. I had never seen so many of the different species in one place.
"Join me or die, your choice." Jace let out a bitter laugh, "I'd rather Magnus drown me in glitter, lock me in a room filled with ducks, and make me watch two guys doing the dirty with my eyes lids taped wide open while being tied down to a chair." If the situation wasn't so serious I would have laughed.
That didn't stop Damien from laughing though, "Alright, you've chosen your fate. Kill each and every one of them." Then the fight began.
I can't say anything too specific. Everything was a blur of weapons and bodies clashing. I fought off the vampire that came at me until I saw a flash. I looked over and saw a demon going straight for Magnus. He was already fighting off someone and this thing was coming at him from behind.
"Magnus!" I quickly disposed of the vampire and rushed over and slashed at the things throat. Magnus whipped his head around and blasted the demon.
I looked at him and smiled, "I've got your back partner." He nodded and then we were back to back fighting off demons, downworlders, and shadowhunters.
The fight dragged on for what could have been hours. It seemed to be an endless amount of them. Almost as if every time we killed one five more would show up. Something told me to look up and I did. I saw Damien, he was leaving. He turned around and walked down the long hallway.
I let out a scream of frustration and went after him. I wasn't going to let him get away. All of those people were dead, or dying, because of him. He was the reason my father was taken. There was no way in Edom I was going to let him get away with it all. I sliced at everything that came at me.
I jumped, sliced, and zig zagged my way through the mass of bodies. I finally made it to the stairs, jumping up them. The amount of adrenaline running through my veins kept me from falling. I finally made it up the stairs. I could see him at the end of the hallway, taking a turn. It was a long hallway.
"Damien! Come back here you coward!" I ran after him, pushing my muscles to their limits. When I came to the turn there was another long hallway. Doors were on both sides, all the way till another turn. I opened door after door looking for him. This was the fifth door and when I opened it there was Damien, my father in front of him on his knees.
Damien had a knife to his throat. I stepped into the room cautiously, "I know you're not going to kill him. You know you're not going to kill him. You need him."
Damien chuckled maliciously, "Fool, you don't know anything. You definitely don't know who your father is. Alexander Gideon Lightwood, or should I even call you that? What right do you have to the name Lightwood? None! You're not a Lightwood boy! You're just a scared little boy trying to play the role of a man."
What was he even talking about? Of course I'm a Lightwood. I didn't even hear their footsteps, but when Jace spoke I knew the others were probably right behind him.
"What the hell are you going on about Bellewood? Just let Robert go so we can kill you already! There is no need to drag out your eminent death. This is just sad really. It's even worse than begging for your life."
Damien chuckled again, "Finally! Now that all of the little spawns are here we can move this along." He pressed the knife into my dad's neck. A small bead of blood trickled down his throat.
"Say it. Tell them. Tell the ones that look up to you so much who you truly are! They should at least get the truth before I kill them all. Or maybe, I'll make you do it. Now wouldn't that be funny?" I didn't notice till now but my dad was crying.
"I'm sorry Alexander, Isabelle, and Jace. I love you guys more than anything. You're my children. I couldn't be more proud of you. Especially you Alec, I-"
Damien cut him off, "Get on with it Nightshade." My father took a deep breath, as if to gather his thoughts, "My name isn't Robert Lightwood. It's Blake Nightshade."
