Magnus POV
I was weak and I hated myself for it. My power was drained from all the fighting, I wouldn't have the energy to get myself in and then get both of us out.
"Alec!" I screamed out, hoping to get some sort of response. When there was none I almost broke right there.
I ran up to the entrance, I won't leave without him. My hands began to glow a dim blue and I moved the boulders and other pieces of the ceiling out of my way. I could feel my energy draining, but I kept going. I had to get to Alec.
"I'm coming Alexander, just please hold on for me." I pleaded into the air.
I could see the other side now, just a few more things to move. Before I could continue the building started shaking, and then it all started crumbling to the ground.
"No!" I screamed out, using whatever was left in me to hold it up.
"Come on!" I couldn't hold it. The building fell and I crumbled to the ground. I cried and cried on the ground, not having the strength to move. I didn't want to. I wanted to die here, on this ground. I couldn't imagine getting up and walking away from here.
I needed him. He always said that he was the one that needed me and that I deserved better, but he was wrong. I was always the one that needed him. He was always too good for me.
"Magnus?"
My head snapped up at his voice, "Alec?" The dust from the buildings collapse started to clear, and there he was. My blue eyed shadowhunter was holding onto a baby, surrounded by a purple force field. Adrenaline surged through me and I ran at him.
The force field dropped and he ran toward me. We slowed down when we were right in front of each other. I was careful not to hurt the child he was holding when he opened his arms for me.
To anyone else this may have looked weird, since I was taller than him, but to me this was home. Home wasn't my apartment, or New York, home was in Alec's arms. With the Chairman around somewhere of course.
He held me as I cried into his chest.
"It's okay, I'm okay Mags."
I heard people running up behind us, "What happened? Is he dead?"
I groaned and wiped my eyes, "Perfect timing Sherman, just perfect." I moved my head away from Alec and stared into his mesmerizing blue eyes.
I will never get tired of those eyes. I grabbed his face and pulled those mouthwatering lips towards me.
"Why don't we get home before you guys have sex in the debris of a fallen building." Alec laughed and pulled away. His cheeks were tomato red, and I kissed both of them. "I love you Alexander, but I will kill you if you ever do that to me again."
He smiled, "I love you too Mags." I put my arm over his shoulder, leaning on him for support as we walked out of the debris and toward everyone else. That adrenaline rush I had was gone now. We were both sort of limping as we walked.
Simon's eyes almost popped out of his head, "Does everyone else see the baby in Alec's arms, or is it just me?"
Before anyone knows what's happening Robert grabs a dagger from Jace's belt and rushes at us. He aims for the child, but Jace was quick enough to stop him, knocking him to the ground.
"What the hell are you doing?" Clary shouted.
Robert glared at the child sleeping in Alec's arms, "That is the thing Damien injected my blood and the blood of all of those downworlders into. We must kill it."
Alec shook his head, "We are not killing this child."
Robert looked at Alec, shock clear on his face, "Of course we are! We need to slit that things throat before it kills us all!" I stepped in a little front of Alec and the baby, still leaning on him for support.
"You'll have to go through me first. I may not be as strong as usual, but I still got some fire left in me."
Clary and the others came to stand by my side, "And us." Robert got up, "How can you all stand there and protect this....this abomination! Magnus, you remember what the first thing Damien made was capable of, and that was without my blood. Just imagine what this thing could do! It could bring the world to its knees, raise hell on Earth."
Alec spoke up from behind us, "You can't condemn a child for the actions of their parents. If that were the case Jace, Izzy, and I would all be dead because of the sins you've committed."
Robert stepped back as if he had just been slapped, "Alec.."
Alec moved from behind us and I leaned on Clary, "We are not killing an innocent child. Evil isn't born Robert, it's made." Then he walked back toward where we made the portal to get here.
Clary helped me follow him, "Thanks biscuit." She laughed and we kept walking, the others following behind us. I looked back and saw Robert. He stood there staring at our retreating forms before he started walking. I could see it in his eyes, he wasn't giving up on this. I'd have to watch him.
